What do you need to know about me? I'm a late-diagnosed Autistic ADHDer (She/Her). Went back to university at age 40 and I'm in my last semester of a psychology honors program. I'm especially interested in neurodivergence.

Currently researching autistic employment experiences. I strongly believe accessibility, making systems/structures/environments more accessible is a better solution than a hodgepodge of often challenging-to-access individual accommodations which require privilege to access.

Twitter was transformed into a vital tool the Black community used to amplify its collective voice to protest injustice, organize, commiserate, and spread its unique brand of tastemaking cool, humor and wit. In 2019, I wrote about how for Black people, quitting Twitter was never an easy cut-and-dry proposition as it is for those far more privileged. Revisiting this piece now is very bittersweet. #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter

We Adapt to Change Better than Anyone.

Look, we have to have some reality here. Elon Musk is not going to silence us. He is a narcissistic extremist who probably thinks he can. However, one thing I know about Democrats and liberals is the way we can easily adapt to change. We are not going anywhere. We are regrouping. Elon Musk panders to a minority of scared children, afraid of change and the fact that the world is changing.

"I told you, that was a typo"

@CatScratchFeverIsReal @zaythelegend yes, but I pick native plants with qualities that will be best for the wildlife I observe in my garden, especially specialized pollinators. Eg, I planted borage this year b/c of its fast rate of nectar replenishment and Saskatoon for swallowtails. We grow plants for the sole purpose of making seeds available in cooler months for the birds. I do almost no weeding, no till and absolutely no pesticides.

#ElonMusk 'defended' his banning of journalists by stating that, in some parts of the world, journalists are murdered when they cross the wrong person. So what he did is pretty 'benign.'

I'm tempted to reopen my soon-to-be deleted account to remind him that, throughout history, when the wealthy elite became abusive enough and crossed the people, the people would behead them.

But I'm also pretty sure that account is shadow banned. Oh well.

@chartier Welcome to the world as seen through LGBT eyes, where we're told we can't complain about discrimination because we aren't being beheaded or thrown off buildings.

But they still lost. They lost the popular vote in 2016. They lost in 2018. They lost in 2020. They lost embarrassingly in 2022. They lost in Brazil. Putin lost in Ukraine. White Christian Nationalism is failing. So they're taking desperate measures for control. /5

Is an argument between two vegans still called a beef?

The Proud Boys seditious conspiracy trial begins with jury selection on 12/19 but per an order from presiding Judge Timothy Kelly, the court won't sit from 12/26-12/30 or on 1/2/23 due to the holidays. That means trial officially kicks off Jan 3. I'll be there live for Daily Kos.

@DavidOAtkins At some point? Trump was always desperate for attention. If a film crew wanted to film in a building he owned, he demanded a cameo. He wrote a book. He leaked his own information to the press, pretending to be someone else. He wanted to be envied and adored by everyone, and he surrounded himself with sycophants.
Elmo is on the same road.

Reducing a $44bn asset to rubble is a lesson in dictatorship. It is entirely the fault of those charged with regulating online spaces and anti-trust, and definitely the fault of those advocating for a free market approach *just in case* the opposite of that is worse. The blind faith in β€˜free markets’, when markets are rigged, partial , enormously favoring of the ruling elites *unless regulated*. Where is the self-reflection among the governance crowd for this complete disaster?

TIP OF THE DAY

Mastodon is not broken.

It's different, and much better. Mastodon by design promotes engagement not asserting influence. It's a dinner party, not a food fight. Most of what you might at first think is deficient is intentional. Before you rush to conclusions, try it for a while. Take part in this new community. Make new friends. Be kind. This is what social media should be. You will be amazed.

@acosta The same length of time Crystal Mason got for casting a provisional ballot in Texas when officials told her she could vote, and she believed them.

Not nearly enough time for an attempted coup.

If you're new here please queue to the left and someone will be along to scold you shortly
