Politics
@msignorile In the Republican party now, character and morals don't matter at all. Only party loyalty and strict adherence to the mandatory hyper-conservative/near-fascist political dogma do.
What? A small flock of Scaly-breasted munia in my yard π never happened before!

Federal prosecutors looking into George Santos' seemingly sudden wealth, sources tell ABC News https://abc7ny.com/george-santos-income-wealth-federal-prosecutors/12623759/

Because I have faith (belief, without evidence) that Putin orchestrated TFG's tariff and export spat with China, he should have learned from TFG's destruction of the soy bean exports. China just got them from someone else, and our export market for soybeans evaporated.
European countries have started getting the LNG from someone else, and they're accelerating plans to move away from fossil fuels. The barrel he thought he had them over is going to crush the Russian economy.
Putin's failure to understand Ukraine's ability to defend itself militarily is matched by his failure to understand the West's ability to defend itself economically.

Gotta admire American ability to quickly ramp LNG exports to specific nations when needed.
Putin really thought the rest of the world was as incompetent and technologically backwards as Russia.

Short rant.
Southwest Air has cancelled ~70% of its flights in an epic meltdown this holiday season.
Remember, Southwest took $3.7B in federal aid from 2020-21.
Itβs CEO got a pay raise to a $9.1M package in 2022.
Yet Southwest employees are working 16 hour shifts & threatened w/termination if they refuse overtime or call in sick.
Socialism for the wealthy. Capitalism for workers.
Stop trusting billionaires. Start holding them accountable. And start protecting workers.
End Rant.

Spike has let us know his time on this planet is coming to an end. I am heartbroken & also forever grateful to him for his 19 years of wonderful companionship. Heβs fought & won many other health battles over the years, but kidney failure has beaten him this time. πππ#Cats #Kitties #SayingGoodbye #EndOfLife #BelovedPet #KittyCompanion #Grief #Love
Hmm. So let me get this straight. Meta are ponying up $725 million to settle a suit over itβs improper sharing of user data with Cambridge Analytics, and yet somehow the British establishment concluded that there was no manipulation of the electorate, no clandestine spending on advertising, no malfeasance, and nothing to see.
@thebellman
The people who won decided it was a fair win.
Does this surprise you?
@aprilkirby
If coming out trans is anything like coming out gay, you may lose people, and it may hurt a bit. Until you realize the people you "lost", you never really had in the first place, and the peace and strength you get from being honest and open is worth the pain.
My emotional dumping this morning (thanks to everyone who answered and shared advice!
) has really solidified my belief that not being fully out is the source of a major chunk of my distress at this time.
It's going to take a little while to properly set up this conversation with my family, but I feel like I need to prove to myself that I'm not just going to delay these difficult conversations anymore.
It's time to tell my closest comedy friends. The ones I'm afraid to lose.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing.
