I had a post written to your "I don't see color" post, but deleted it.
I think of that line the same way I think of people telling me "I don't see you as gay". It's insulting, because the unspoken following line is "I see you as normal" It diminishes who I am, and minimizes my experiences. Telling someone you don't see the trait that's been a significant factor in how they live is dismissive and condescending.

There is one person I'd like to have been better to, in high school. No one was decent, and I wasn't worse than any of the rest, but I should have known better. I should have done better. I try to do better now.
I think we've all done things in our "youth" we wish we hadn't. I know in my early military career I did some spectacularly craptastic stuff I wouldn't mind taking back but don't carry guilt over them, I just vowed to do better.
One thing I still regret, despite being forgiven years later by the soldier involved, was my failure to stand up to the powers that be and be strong in the moment.
