When I was about ten, my mom asked me to vacuum, but I absolutely hated that chore so I lied and told her I vacuumed only for her to call me out on it because there weren't any “vacuum tracks” on the carpeting.

From that day forward, I got sneaky and I would drag the vacuum around the carpet while it was turned off just to get it to generate the tracks so my mom would think I had vacuumed.

It wasn’t until an embarrassing amount of years later when I realized I could have just turned on the vacuum and ACTUALLY vacuumed because I was doing the same amount of work (if not more) with absolutely ZERO cleaning benefit because I was seriously the dumbest child imaginable.

And for the life of me, I don’t understand why they object to being called MAGA Republicans. They are Republicans and they are MAGA. Why are we discussing bending to their wails and gnashing of teeth? They proudly identify as such. This is weird and I can’t believe it’s a thing.

Talking to friends in Austin who are enduring yet another large-scale catastrophic infrastructure failure, and I’m wondering if any of the shitbird VCs who were encouraging everyone to move to Texas have yet noted that the policy regime they’re so fond of is harming so many people, so consistently.

I’m speechless and devastated by the destruction and loss of life from two powerful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The world must do what it can to come to the aid of the many thousands of victims.

This is one for those of you who are trauma-centered like me.

My wife just came home really angry at something from work. Like REALLY angry. Straight to yelling at me and the kids. Yelling about how the house is messy and makes her sick. etc.

Normally I internalize this as my fault. My mom was bipolar and borderline and everything was my fault and I was responsible for my little sister's safety. So usually when this happens, I get really hot and make the kids clean and do all the things to try to make her happy, and I end up getting stressed at the kids because they're not cleaning fast enough, and it's all badness.

But not today!

I said "Okay, you need to go out of the house and do something. Go eat, go to the gym, whatever. You need to go take care of yourself. I will make dinner and clean with the kids but this went straight to darkness and we don't need that."

And she looked at me like I was crazy.

And then went to the gym.

I'm extremely proud of myself right now. I have never done that before.

My biggest fear is taking a shower and a home invasion starts. Fighting a burglar naked is the most terrifying thought for BOTH of us
