I had a zoom appointment with someone scheduled today & they did not show up. I cannot emphasize enough how much this fucks up the day for someone with ADHD. The entire morning was spent mentally preparing for this meeting so I got nothing else done and now I'm out of sorts in the aftermath. Basically my schedule for the day got fucked up and it's hard to just readjust. IYKYK If you can't make a meeting, CANCEL IT in a reasonable timeframe please!

@ScottSoCal Not heard of it, but browsing rat owner communities on Reddit and Facebook tells you pretty much the same. This is our second pair, and they have definitely hammered home how emotionally intelligent and unique rats are; they're so different from our previous boys!

@Bard

Have you ever read the book "Animal Wise"? Science writer Virginia Morell did it, reporting on emotional and cognitive aspects of animals - including rats. Rats need to play, and they laugh when they're tickled. They form deep emotional bonds. I've never looked at them the same, since reading it.

Did this on my last instance, so I'll do it again here: an #Introduction for my rats! I expect to keep posting about them as they keep being cute.

We currently have two boys, both born in April last year. The brown hooded dumbo is Zack. He's super affectionate to humans and loves licking our hands and faces. Not sure there's a single thought in that fuzzy head.

The little grey is Taro. He seems like he might be a runt, and is full of energy. Will not stop for pets, and is always getting the zoomies.

They are both starting to get very good at jumping...

She's on mastodon.lol, which is scheduled to close down in a few weeks. Maybe they've turned off follows in the mean time?

@LucyWildboots
Hi ~ I'd love to follow you back, but I keep getting a message that says "This action is not allowed," accompanied by the Mastodon logo bug. Could it be on your end? I'll keep trying! Karen Strickholm ☺️

Using the new U2 navigation system, the streets have no name and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

#slack can also be sometimes fun and can be used for nerd things.

I am the unknown worldwide creator of several emojis in our corporate network. As soon as you created it everybody can use it and it seems it is not possible to edit or delete it afterwards (also I cannot).
Today I added gembawalks and the nostr emoji.

Now waiting that somebody uses the nostr emoji (beside myself).

This feels like a good time for lots of non trans people to loudly state the truth that trans people are good and more out and visible trans people is good for society.

This is a formal portrait of the surviving Apollo astronauts. That's Buzz Aldrin in the silver tux. I have to imagine the conversation went like this:

ALDRIN: Ok, let's get started
PHOTOGRAPH: Mr. Aldrin, you are aware that this is a formal portrait?
BA: I'm not an idiot son.
PG: Well your suit-
BA: Son, have you been to the moon?
PG: No sir.
BA: Well I have. The moon. The motherlovin' moon. In a tin can run by a calculator and powered by a can of sterno. (1/)

This is the kind of librarian I work to be every day. From the Unshelved comic strip.

O.k. Look, the #GOP are an existential threat to #america and the world.
That being said, β€œknow yourself & know your opponent”
This cheering the low #unemployment rate like #Biden did magic is ridiculous. Over 1 million people died from #covid & ALSO THISπŸ‘‡
β€œSome experts estimate 2 to 4 million U.S. employees are out of the workforce because of long-term effects of #COVID-19.”

Folks in Blue States who think abortion rights is only an issue for the rest of us are going to realize real quick that abortion rights is a 50-state issue as long as Republicans control the courts.

Fetterman, Recovering After Stroke, Labors to Adjust to Life in the Senate nyti.ms/3YkWmmp

"At Senator John Fetterman’s desk in the Senate chamber, there is a newly installed monitor that rises or lowers, depending on whether he sits or stands, and provides closed captioning so he can follow the proceedings. At the center dais, a custom desk stand has been built to accommodate the same technology for when he takes his shifts presiding over the Senate."

Mormonism is the logical middle-ground between old timey Christianity and Scientology's volcano gods.
