You’re right. I’ve used Google & Alexa too. Alexa drove me nuts with β€œby the way…” all the time.

Siri, however is uniquely stupid.

@sezduck
I think they all do that. I have Google everything, and I have a routine called "I'm in bed" that turns off the lights in the rest of the house, adjusts the lights in my bedroom, turns on my bedroom TV. It works great for weeks, then won't work.
"It.looks like those devices haven't been set up"
"According to Wikipedia, Time For Bed is..."
"Something went wrong, please try again in a few minutes"

Ranting about Apple products

I feel the need to rant about my recent experiences with #Apple products & the increasing number of issues

1/?

Last week, whenever I asked my HomePods to run any of my Shortcuts:
Siri: β€œOkay, to what value?”
πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Today, when I ask Siri on HomePod to control my thermostat or turn on lights:
Siri: It looks like you haven’t setup any HomeKit accessories…”

I do the same, but I prefer "thrifty". OK, yeah it means I don't have to go to the store again for a long time, but that's just a perq.

If you see me getting an extra large pack of whatever in the store, I'm not panic buying, I'm just lazy.

I am not the same as you.

You are not the same as me.

And that's ok.

I can respect you.

You can respect me.

But i am not going to suspend reality.

Realities I have lived, endured.

And nor should you suspend yours.

Realities you have lived, endured.

And that's ok.

Let's be kind to each other as fellow travellers on this planet, in this space and time.

Her eyes are saying your picture-taking disturbed her nap. There will be consequences, human.

The Kaylon have setup their own Mastodon instance.

I’m not sure if this to maintain peaceful discourse with humanity or if we should be concerned.

Even if they mean well, be careful. You could still lose a leg.

OK, I get that February is shorter, but why are clicks down? January wasn't like this.

I am new on here today and I'm just trying to figure it all out

This past week I helped fix some inclusive language at work and someone thanked me saying they didn’t keep up with the current preferred language.

I told them that they didn’t need to because they brought a trans person to the table and it was satisfying to see that idea sink in.

@kimlockhartga
We're either in the Kelvin universe, or in the Upside Down. The jury is out on which.
If someone shoots a Vulcan, we'll know.

Oh, it's supposed to snow in Atlanta this weekend? Yeah okay, Brother. No, I'm not surprised. You could tell me dinosaurs were back, Pee Wee Herman is the new Grand Vizier of Pakistan, and there's a new virus that makes people sing "Stayin" Alive" continuously, until they (ironically) drop dead, and I still wouldn't blink an eye.

I had a zoom appointment with someone scheduled today & they did not show up. I cannot emphasize enough how much this fucks up the day for someone with ADHD. The entire morning was spent mentally preparing for this meeting so I got nothing else done and now I'm out of sorts in the aftermath. Basically my schedule for the day got fucked up and it's hard to just readjust. IYKYK If you can't make a meeting, CANCEL IT in a reasonable timeframe please!

@ScottSoCal Not heard of it, but browsing rat owner communities on Reddit and Facebook tells you pretty much the same. This is our second pair, and they have definitely hammered home how emotionally intelligent and unique rats are; they're so different from our previous boys!
