Ukraine, we are with you.
We have been with you in this existential fight from the beginning.
You have become the centre of our continent.
The place where our values are upheld. Where our freedom is defended. Where the future of Europe is written.

The roots survived, so they'll be back. We started with a single dwarf banana tree 20 years ago, and it turned into a small forest.
We're right on the coast in Ventura County, and our banana trees have given up the ghost. It got down to the mid-30s last night, and they're not having it.
Potential good news: if you ain't had none, and you ain't gonna get none, you're already a none.
This argues that - because of the "perils of a public good in private hands" - not just discussion should move from twitter to mastodon, scholarly institutions should now also create instances in the fediverse that make publicly available: papers, data & code.

Our two elderly dogs got to the point they needed a little extra boost for eating. We get rotisserie chicken and pull the meat off, and store it in baggies in the fridge/freezer. Mincing some fairly small bits up fine gets the flavor throughout the food, and they eat. Our vet warned us against too much chicken, since an excess of protein can cause kidney problems.

Thanks for the recommendation - bought it.
Wow. Just finished reading The Terraformers, by @annaleen, and it's amazing. I can't properly describe the #book right now, so please take a look online or even in a real bookstore, depending on where do you live.
I don't usually mention the many great #SciFi and occasionally high #fantasy books I read. Perhaps I'm making an exception because it was only here on #Mastodon that I found out about the author and the book, *probably* via the great @marthawells.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing.
