Yesterday, the last of our littermate, sister cats passed away.
In 2005, we adopted two of the cutest, sweetest kittens *ever* from the county animal shelter. It took almost a month before Lucy and Ethel were trusting enough to let us pet them but after that, they knew they were "home". They never fought or raised a claw to each other or to us. Not once! Lucy passed in November. Ethel followed yesterday. We'll miss them dearly! โฅ๏ธ โฅ๏ธ
Just read a story about a food company successfully growing "mammoth meatballs" from mammoth meat lab grown from mammoth DNA.
Have we learned nothing?
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit in the wind
You don't open the mummy sarcophagus
and you don't grow mammoth meat.
This is how zombies happen, people.
@ScottSoCal @Pepper @TonyStark As is true with all of the right's dearest "freedoms"
They only ever extend to people they like doing things they like.
re: Twitter makes millions as anti-LGBTQ+ โgroomingโ narrative jumps 119% under Elon Musk
He might be making millions, but he's losing billions. His pathetic profits don't compensate for hemorrhaging cash. It's not even a band-aid on the wound.
And I'm perfectly all right with that.
Twitter makes millions as anti-LGBTQ+ โgroomingโ narrative jumps 119% under Elon Musk
Tweets mentioning the hateful anti-LGBTQ+ โgroomingโ narrative have jumped 119% since Elon Musk took over the platform
Just five accounts driving the โgroomingโ narrative generate up to $6.4m per year for Twitter in advertising revenue
One of these accounts, James Lindsay, was reinstated by Musk after previously receiving a permanent suspension before the takeover
Tweets mentioning the hateful anti-LGBTQ+ โgroomingโ narrative have jumped 119% since Elon Musk took over the platform, new analysis by the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) has found.

You hurt the guns' feelings when you post stuff like that.
i spent years thinking that i wasn't "really" trans
i "wanted to be" a girl
i hated "being" a boy
i fantasized about magic or science that could change my body
but somehow i still thought i wasn't "really" trans
bc i didn't say it
(scared)
and didn't transition
(super scared)
but i was ALWAYS trans
even before i said it
even before i transitioned
even before i knew the word
there's no legal amount of pride merch you have to own before you're 'really' trans
you are trans enough
And subscribe! At whatever level you can afford. Subscriptions keep the light on forever.
Oof, didn't expect the potential closure of the @TexasObserver to be one of the first things I'm posting about! Many of you have probably seen by now that our board voted quite suddenly a couple days ago to close the publication and lay everyone off. The staff is holding an emergency fundraiser to convince the board otherwise! We have raised $150k in less than 24 hours, and are hopeful. Destroying other people might be the only way she can feel good about herself. Some people are like that.
Their "parental rights" schtick is just a ploy. As DeSantis is shown, you only have the right to raise your children the way Republicans think you should. Deviate from that, and you forfeit everything.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
