Two Portraits. Surreal portraits of a mother and child, constructed with torn paper. They seem to come from another era, perhaps from a farm in the 1800s. They are each staring at you, the portrait taker. Handmade paper collage.

It took 500 years, and generational trauma, but thanks to Native children. The Pope renounced the doctrine of discovery stating "It doesn't align with the churches veiws." So glad it took 500 years and a new Pope to say this...ππ³

The only reason Nixon wasn't prosecuted is Ford pardoned him. Ford was a putz. Prosecuting Nixon would have sent a clear message.
Good morning. Our doors would be shutting today and all of us would be out of work, if 1000s of people hadn't come together to say that #TexasNeedsAnObserver.
We are so grateful to all of you on this #Newstodon Friday!

This came to me from a trans friend I know really, really well. For years now. And from that, I can tell you that there actually is a trans agenda. And it is this:
To walk through the world without getting their rights, bodies, and lives taken and attacked by people who hate them for no reason at all.
Thatβs it.
In my field the bait is knowing that things I hold in my hands are now in space, doing science, answering some questions and creating a bunch of new questions. It's intoxicating. But then there's KPI tracking, and "integration across units" and new setups that hamper the work instead of helping it. I reminisce about the time a program manager and I did an ad-hoc failure analysis by gowning up, going into the lab, and dunking things in liquid nitrogen, to see what happens.
As states across the country continue to pass anti-trans legislation, we need to uplift trans people and fight for their rightsβnow more than ever.
I am proud to stand with the Equality Caucus as an ally of the trans community. #TransDayofVisibility

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
