For example, the autistic tests ask whether you copy characters on TV, to know how to socialise. Thatβs autistic scripting. I thought I didnβt script, because I didnβt copy TV characters.
But by interacting with other autistic people I realised that scripting is so much more than that. That thing where I rehearse interactions with people beforehand? Thatβs scripting. Or where I quietly rehearse a phone call before I make it? Scripting.

On reddit, thereβs r/autisminwomen.com which despite its name is not just for cis women, but open to trans and nonbinary as well. r/autism is also good, although there are some gatekeepers who disparage self diagnosis, so be aware.

Imagine reading out your alt text to a friend.
Would they then be able to join in the conversation, on equal terms with someone who'd seen the original picture? Or did you leave out a crucial bit?
It isn't only for blind people. It might just be that someone's server is running slow that day and the pic hasn't arrived. But same principle either way: loop people in, if they happen to not be able to see the pic just then.
