Being pedantic at length is easy.
Real pros are pedantic at width.
True pedantic connoisseurs are pedantic at height.

I carry an epi-pen in case of bee sting, but I've learned I can get very close and watch them, as long as I'm not wearing certain colors, and don't do anything threatening. We've got lots of bee-friendly plants in our yard, and a fountain they like to drink from.

Adventures in #beekeeping. Now that Wednesday afternoon’s swarm is settled, it’s time to start moving the #bees a few feet at a time towards the other hives. This is my first experience dealing with a swarm, so learning something new every day.

Four years ago, on this day, I wrote the most important thing I've ever written.

It became the basis for the entire Starship Gender project: starshipgender.com/sunday-apri

I knew I was trans, but there was still so much more I didn't know, yet, about who I am.

The closing words have never lost their magic, for me:

"I love you because you deserve to be loved, and you deserve to have something that can always be trusted – something from inside. You can always trust that you deserve to be loved. And you can always trust that I love you."

May it be so for all of us.

I'd want to go to every tire and auto repair shop in town, turn the wheels, then go in and tell them I think my tires are out of alignment.

I was on Twitter for five years and I ended up with 8,000 followers.

I've been on Mastodon for five months, and I already have 16,000 on here.

I think the biggest difference is that Mastodon just leaves me alone to do whatever I feel like doing, whereas Twitter would go out of its way to punch me in the head anytime I tried to enjoy the platform.

We talk about Tucker Carlson , MAGA and even Russia, which has been humiliated by Ukraine, but let's be clear that the biggest threat to democracy in the world right now is the Murdoch family and their vast spread of propaganda

Part of it is less tangible than just a features list. I drive a 2016 Lincoln that I bought because it had features that, at the time, were only available on luxury cars. Now that I'm looking at a replacement, those features are also available on the Ford Escape - not a luxury car. But the Escape doesn't have the sound damping, the isolation, the ride isn't as smooth...
I like my Lincoln better, even as it's older.

Failing to understand the market for so-called luxury cars these days. In a world where a Honda CR-V has every creature comfort imaginable, people are still paying twice as much for luxury SUVs. My mother-in-law has a new Range Rover and it’s nice, but not twice as nice.

Maelstrom is a word that just doesn't get used in regular conversation, these days. Pity, that. It's a good word.

@victoriadecapua Not gonna lie, I had an absolute blast on twitter - until I didn’t - mostly because I’d found people I could tell jokes with and who got me. Sadly, I can’t support what Musk is doing there. I don’t have the mental energy to try and tame another wild tract of land like bluesky apparently is. Mastodon is easy and perfect for *actually* being social, rather than screaming humor into a maelstrom. I’ll stick around.

My wife just booked her (almost) annual trip back to N. Dakota to see her family. I only went with her twice. Once to meet her family after we were married (2006) and once for her Mom’s Funeral. The prairie isn’t really my thing. She dreads the trips, but wants to see her 3 siblings and their families. They spend their days off talking about what’s for dinner.

Their politics are way off the right edge of the spectrum, so they all ... hawaiiboy.micro.blog/2023/04/2
