I’ve diligently worked my entire life to cultivate the grace with which I was not born. Only in granting myself compassion did I truly find it.

Learn more about my journey with #EhlersDanlos and #hypermobility in today’s @Huffingtonpost. I hope it helps someone else find an answer and perhaps hope for the future.

re: Autism "over-diagnosis"

@Jessica

I'd keep in mind that the NY Post is a rag owned by Rupert Murdoch - same guy that owns Fox News. If there are two sides to an issue, they'll be on the fascist side.

Autism "over-diagnosis"

This makes me sad, it implies the increases in people being diagnosed autistic aren't "real" and such people aren't really autistic πŸ™

It's also strange this is the takeaway, not that people weren't spotted earlier as #ActuallyAutistic.

I am reminded of this graph of left-handedness. There aren't more left-handed people than before, they're just being correctly identified (and not made to surpress their left-handedness):

How can democracy self-correct if the public does not understand where the problem lies? And where will the pressure for change come from if journalists do not hold the responsible parties accountable?presswatchers.org/2023/04/repu

From now on, anytime someone asks me why I put so much time and effort into this arguably dumb account, I will simply tell them that I do it for Tim.

If you’re an old rock star who has scolding, uninformed opinions about trans people, ask your kids if shutting the fuck up is right for you.

Guy kills five neighbors including a child because they ask him to stop scaring the kids with his machine gun. My brother is at Safeway yesterday and a guy pulled a gun on another guy inside the store because of a parking lot beef. Like. This is terrorism. I am terrified. No one wants to live like this!!!!

People are calling Moms for Liberty National Socialites but I really like Klanned Karenhood.

I was about the same age when I learned why all the fuss about a bl*w j*b.
I mean, couldn't you just stand in front of a fan and get the same sensation?

I didn't understand wet t-shirt contests until my junior year of high school (age 16 or 17, I'm not sure). I started private school that year. We could leave campus for lunch, but I didn't have a car and couldn't drive, so I was basically rotated between the friend groups in the junior class (there were around 30 people in the entirety of the junior class) as an intentionally planned way to get to know people which was far, far removed from the bullying I was used to in public school.

Anyway, I went with a trio of girls I had gone with once before and for some reason they started talking about how they thought so-and-so's comment earlier that day about a wet t-shirt contest was awful, and how wet t-shirt contests are dumb. I hadn't heard the comment itself, but I did attempt to try to include myself in the conversation.

"Yeah, it's not even hard to get your shirt totally wet," I said.

After a beat a silence and quizzical looks directed at me, all three started to tell me what the contest was really about.

And so I learned a wet t-shirt contest is not at all about how wet your shirt can get.
