#AskingAutistics A lot of us have grown up being told to "be more concise", to not be "overly detailed" in how we explain things. Do you feel like that has impacted your ability to understand how to explain to people how you feel?

I've noticed that due to being told this, when people ask me how I am, I just simplify it so much that it ends up being "fine thanks!" even when I'm actually feeling more: "I'm actually really struggling right now"

What's helped me is the paradigm shift of best "available." We can't always bring our A game to everything. That's why there's 25 other letters. If doing my "best" is bringing my M game, then that's my best today. Different day, different variables, different best.
