There's a key thing missing in this ruling - the Mormon church doesn't have a "confessional setting". There's nothing in their scripture that says the "official" (scare quotes because all church offices are lay-members) hearing it must maintain confidentiality. They stretched the law to the breaking point to get this ruling.
Arizona court upholds clergy privilege in child abuse case
The Arizona Supreme Court has ruled that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can refuse to answer questions or turn over documents under a state law that exempts religious officials from having to report child sex abuse if they learn of the crime during a confessional setting.
The ruling was issued April 7 but not released to the public until Tuesday. A lawsuit filed by child sex abuse victims accuses the church, widely known as the Mormon church, two of its bishops, and other church members of conspiracy and negligence in not reporting church member Paul Adams for abusing his older daughter as early as 2010. This negligence, the lawsuit argues, allowed Adams to continuing abusing the girl for as many as seven years, a time in which he also abused the girlβs infant sister.

Joseph Laroche was the only black man of the Titanicβs total 2,223 passengers & crew. On April 10, 1912, he joined the ship with his family at Grande Rade harbor, France. Despite enjoying the ship's lavish offerings & dining 1st class, the family faced scorn b/c of their interracial marriage. After Titanic's sinking, the White Star Line publicly apologized for the racism of its crew towards non-white passengers..

That is part of the problem the older you get. Family is invested in how they've come to see and accept you and also in many ways explain you. In denying your autism they feel as if they are still being kind and fair to you. To accept you as they always have. Which isn't super helpful if you want them to see you in your new light and because of it change that dynamic.
SPEAKING OF MUSIC: I just put together an 8-minute bit of trance-y electronica derived from a NASA recording of data from Juno as it did a flyby of the Jovian moon Ganymede. You know, like you do. It's here if you want to check it out:

I don't think he shared them, I think he sold them. I think that's why he kept them in the first place - as a source of income.
Something a little zen and calming for you today - hope it relaxes you, too!

I get that so much - "give me all the information I need to make a decision possible."
@ScottSoCal @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics
Ah, gotcha. I was not familiar with the term in this context. Once again I am learning of a known, labelled trait that is me all over. It is something I have been gently (usually) mocked for my entire life.
I infodump and on things of concern I insist on it. When Dad was in hospital & had a sundowners episode I went to nurse station & said "Get me someone who can tell me everything there is to know about sundowners."
Sex discussion
@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic
Orgasms, yes, very important. Sex (with someone else involved) is more tricky, because I have that whole "don't touch me unless I know you and trust you" thing happening. Since 2010 there's been no one I know and trust well enough for that.
What role does sex play in the lives of my #ActuallyAutistic comrades?
Some of us absolutely need it for regulation, others not. Others see it thru it a different prism. Itβs taboo to talk about it, letβs change that.

I can't find where this thread started but I think I get the gist of the topic. I have (politely) grilled my various specialists, & dad's when he was alive, for detail & context; they have always been responsive & appear to enjoy it. I "justify" my inquiry with "I'm an engineer; I find the human body fascinating." That generally shifts them into professorial mode & I get what I seek - detailed understanding of their diag, Rx.
