Many t years ago I was on holiday with my gf in a bar and she flipped, accusing me of flirting with two women on the other side of the room who were playing pool.
As well a defending my genuine innocence I was thinking, wow I can flirt? What did I do that looked like flirting?

That works - more pudding for me! Butterscotch, please.
When 2023 started, I was teetering on the brink of coming out. So this is my first #PrideMonth - I wrote about that and shared some of my work here:
https://markonart.com/pride-2023-art/ - hope you enjoy and happy #Pride y'all!
As an #ActuallyAutistc person I take 10.000 steps a day just by making two phone calls.
When people say things like
*Just be yourself*
*You're okay the way you are*
...they usually don't expect my autism showing up like
~me obsessing over a minor detail
~freaking out over a change of plans
~talking excessively about my SI
~getting a migraine from heavy perfume, too bright light or auditory overwhelm
~not bearing to see a living soul
~having a meltdown bc of severely disrupted routines
You can be a little strange. But not *this* strange.

Birds of a feather, and all that. π
@actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics @actuallyadhd I asked my ex-wife about her ADHD and she confirmed what I thought. During our marriage, we knew she had ADHD. However, we did not suspect I had autism, or knew the terms neurodivergent and neurotypical.
At any rate, it is now confirmed: all my romantic relationships have been with neurodivergent people of various types.
Not sure what to make of that. π€
She does not see the same correlation in her romantic relationships with other people.

One con I attended had a morning session on how to meet people romantically. Around 40 in the room during self-introductions person opposite me said they'd been flirting with me for ages in the bar the previous night but I'd totally blanked them. Others nodded that they had noticed.
I DIDN'T KNOW! I thought they were just being friendly!
I now have a badge (pin) which says "Flirt blind. Make it clear".

When I did programming, that's how I worked. Intense focus and cranking out code, until I hit a wall, then go out and wander around, look at the squirrels, think of nothing, and the solution would hit me - then back in to work more.

My entire adult life, I've heard "You know he was flirting with you, don't you?" about cashiers, waiters, people standing near me in lines.
No, I don't know that. I've never known that. I've seen flirting in movies, but he didn't do any of those things. Hubs spent 6 months saying "So when are you going to ask me out?", but he was a bartender, he obviously didn't mean it. Until he told me he did.
@cadenza @doggle @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
Is that a thing? I mean the "get my attention before telling or asking me something?"
I drive my wife crazy by either never hearing something she says she said, or noticing she's talking and saying "wait. Start over."
She says I don't listen and should pay better attention. One of my many flaws she hates.

Granted that it may be different in Canada, but I always and only use credit cards for purchases, and it helps me.
I pay the credit card bill in full when it's due - no interest charges. Essentially I'm borrowing my monthly expenses for free each month. My money can sit in the bank, untouched, till the credit card bill comes in. I make interest on my bank balance.
