I can make arguments for each of these characters as being coded autistic
* Jack (30 Rock)
* Hiccup (How to Train a Dragon)
* Leon AND Matildè (The Professional)
* Matthew Murdock (Daredevil)
* Napoleon Dynamite
@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I've seen so many cases of #3!
Mine was an odd journey. I spent my whole life feeling like a weirdo, and having people assume it was just because I was "gifted" -- or innumerable other less complementary assumptions about my personality. Then, when I was 26, I saw a TV special on Daniel Tammet. I was captivated because I saw so much of myself on the screen, which had never happened for me before. And they mentioned Asperger's. First thing I did was hit Wikipedia. And by the end of the day, I had a word for what I am. 13 years later, I finally got a formal diagnosis.
Most people have probably already forgotten that several months ago, the Biden admin stopped a nationwide rail strike (over sick days) that might have screwed the economy. This made unions and union supporters very unhappy, and few believed the President when he said heβd get them their sick days. But with the help of Bernie Sanders, he has done it. They got the RR workers what they needed AND avoided a crippling strike. This is a big win for everyone that will probably go unnoticed. http://www.ibew.org/media-center/Articles/23Daily/2306/230620_IBEWandPaid
I'm named after an astronaut. When I gave the attendant at Kennedy Space Center my credit card to pay my entry fee, she made a squee noise. Both the first time someone recognized my name for what it is, and the first time I've heard someone squee.
Both Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin were βrebellious,β the white and black establishment BOTH looked down on them, and neither was the first Black person to refuse to give up their seat for a white passenger in Montgomery. The fight for equality and injustice was long and difficult and it was a collective struggle, not an individual one.

I did that once, several decades ago. The timing was unfortunate, the location was less than ideal, but I felt myself spiraling into something ugly, sat myself in front of the TV and found an Audrey Hepburn movie to watch. I remember her in Paris, dancing with Fred Astaire in a field of flowers.
Compensate for it by raising taxes on personal income (all personal income, from whatever source) over $10,000,000 per year to 110%.
You want to be a greedy bastard? Fine, but you'll pay for it.
Of course Putin will use nukes if he thinks he can get away with it - he's a psychopath. That's why he must know he can't get away with it, and same for any people who push the button on Putin's behalf.
An American general described how the US would respond in a nonnuclear way if Putin nukes Ukraine. Essentially, the US would sink all Russian surface ships and do all kinds of damage that would reduce Russia's military capability rather drastically.

And the story I've always heard is that the QWERTY keyboard layout was deliberately designed to limit typing speed, because typing too fast would jam the mechanism.
No idea if that's a true thing, or a myth.
Christopher Latham Sholes received a patent for an invention he called the "Type-Writer" #OTD in 1868.
This was the first typewriter to be a commercial success (about 5000 were made), the first to use the QWERTY keyboard layout invented by Sholes, and the first to be called a typewriter; the term was coined by Sholes. via @Wikipedia
