::It is against the galactic treaty on the rights of living, thinking beings to:
1 Keep a person in ignorance of the wider worlds of humanity.
2 Hide technology that could save lives or ease suffering.
3 Lie to people about the year or time period.
4 Attempt to "recreate" people from history who have left no instructions for rebirth.
None of this stopped the Old Earth Collective. 1/3
"Ask me a question, and I may answer."
Who gets possession of the armrest in a theater? The person who sat first, or the person carrying the most snacks?
I spent a long, long time trying to decide who I want to be on this platform, and decided to just post what I want. I am not theming my blog. Ask me a question, and I may answer. My likes are long, and they include: Asian TV shows, science, plants, teaching, philosophy, anime, science fiction, dance, open culture, fan fiction, writing, DNA, movies, cooking, Sherlock Holmes, animation, romances, dogs, cats, wildflowers, and singing. The photo is of my pet fly, Victor. #intro p.s. He's not a pet.
From reading posts made by proud #Christians it seems the thing they want most is to protect their children from pedophiles.
From reading news reports about clergy being arrested, it seems that proud Christians are the least successful people in the history of the world.

No matter how bad Smith's release is, I won't be shocked. Nothing the mango moron is capable* of doing shocks me.
* - he's not capable of intelligence, compassion, or empathy. Those would shock me.
@Brutus @philip_cardella @makkhorn
Yes....Smith will shock America and the world when he presents the shit we don't know. He did not lay all his cards out...Wait for it..Tangerine Caligula is going down.
"This is about saving cities. Without commuting office workers, the office buildings go empty, they become worth a fraction of their cost, and retail cannot survive."

God it's depressing that people believe this is the true nature of downtowns.
Cities predate commutes. The hollowed out core that triples in population, swelled to bursting with bored and unhappy suburbanites during work hours, is a modern abomination made possible by cars and structural racism.
What's killing downtowns is that we spent so long on this awful vision of work and spent half a century strangling inner city infrastructure to subsidize incredibly expensive suburban lifestyles.
Want to make downtowns viable again? Convert dead office space to apartments and schools and colleges and other spaces people can work *and* live in.
Good luck with your rezoning applications though.
One of the many reasons actual doctors and scientists shouldn't debate RFK Jr: because he constantly lies about everything, even simple indisputable facts.
He claims comparative studies aren't done on vaccines.
Yes, they are. Here's one showing the efficacy of the COVID vaccine, and one showing autism is *less* common in kids who received the MMR vaccine.
His whole shtick relies on repeating lies until the audience starts thinking they might be true. No use in helping him.
@adelinej @Pathfinder @actuallyautistic Yeah I almost wrote in my initial post, "Just because you invented the word, doesn't mean you own its definition for all time." Language evolves -- thankfully!
Important, via Elie Mystal:
I just want to say again that it is important that we do not *WASTE* this opportunity at democratic self-government the Court has by a thin margin allowed us to keep.
Essentially the Court is saying that they won't ruin democracy by judicial fiat, but *the people we elect* still absolutely can, if we elect the wrong people.
I know most of the people who follow me are already voters. But still, VOTE for people who want your votes to count. #SCOTUS
If by "we" she means her fellow Republicans, then yes, I agree. 100%. π―
Why hasn't it been included before now?
The National Archives will add the Emancipation Proclamation to its permanent display of founding documents of the U.S., alongside the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights. https://www.archives.gov/press/press-releases/2023/nr23-41
But the stereotypes are strong. I wondered, occasionally, about being autistic, but dismissed the idea because I work full time, in a highly technical field. Autistic people don't do that on TV.
But I've realized that I sought out a field that plays to my particular strengths, while downplaying my weaknesses.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
