And in 2015, a movie was made about the riots that pushed aside all those troublesome drag queens and Black people, and put a white boy center stage as the hero, the way gawd intended.
/only a little bit sarcastic
The Stonewall Riots began on today's date, June 28, in 1969. That's why LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated in June.
In 2011, PBS aired an excellent documentary about Stonewall, an uprising that helped expand and transform #LGBTQ activism.
Raw footage of 48 interviews conducted for the documentary are streamable through the website of the American Archive of Public Broadcasting. https://americanarchive.org/special_collections/stonewall-uprising-interviews

Oh, you people, always pushing your Autistic Agenda.

It is not even 2pm yet and my day has been rather eventful:
1. Went grocery shopping.
2. Picked up a prescription from CVS.
3. Got another prescription moved.
4. Cut my hair.
5. Unclogged the bathroom sink. I had a notion that it was clogged but I had proof today after my haircut. (Yes, I cut my hair myself.)
6. Took a shower.
7. Cleaned the bathroom floor.
8. Profit?
Not sure what else is in store for me today.
Scifi Mastodon, please come to my aid!
I am trying to compile a list of vintage scifi stories that feature Andean Indians able to breath the rarefied atmosphere of the planet Mars.
This is of course impossible, but was a popular motif in scifi back around the 1950s. I seem to remember it appearing in an Arthur C. Clarke science fact book, then appearing in several stories by other authors. But I can't remember the titles or authors.
I think one was Crucifixus Etiam, by Walter Miller Jr.
It did say all of them had voted for anti-trans bills.
But still brilliant compared to MTG statements. π
This statement in the article bothered me.
"Kansas Republican leaders have since said more than 100 state and legislative officials have received threatening letters filled with a suspicious powdery substance."
Republican leaders are making a statement, but its unclear if all the recipients are republican.
I would speculate that is the case since they chose a deceased transgender person for the return addressee.
I'm in Group 3 - people who didn't tweet, but started seeing all these articles about an extinct hairy elephant.
It occurred to me that there were two groups of people that came to Mastodon in November. The first thought Twitter was literally going to shut down and needed virtual methodone for their social media addiction. The second were users dissatisfied with what Twitter had become and jumped at an alternative. I believe it's the second group that have stuck around.

I read the article, I'm aware. But it's a quote from an elected legislator. Which makes her sound stupid.
π
Its the text from the article.
If you get a fraudulent phone call, you could claim to be targeted because they called your specific number. With that data alone, it sounds like speculative paranoia to claim to be targeted.
I think they just didn't want to commit to a larger targeting statement with only the information they have.
But yes, as worded it does sound stupid. π
Familiar to just about every Black American, the phrase "traveling while Black" encapsulates the experiences & challenges encountered by Black people during their travels, particularly in predominantly white or racially hostile environments. It sheds light on the racial profiling, discrimination, and systemic biases that generations of Black folks have faced on their journeys across the American landscape.
