Sprinting to open doors for me, giving me all the space I could use, standing back to let me go by. Apologizing profusely if they interfere with my progress in any way. I found it very funny, in a nice kind of way.
We were supposed to get new carpet installed yesterday - while I was at work and hubs (who isn't bothered by this kind of thing) was here. I pay for things, I don't supervise their installation. Carpet guys had an install at the beach yesterday, and their truck got stuck in the sand. Rescheduled for today. Now I'm in the middle of hammering, ripping, dogs barking, and strangers everywhere, and I'm not having a good time.

I just read a post by someone who complained that everything they said, someone complained about it being racist, anti-Semitic, or homophobic.
My solution? Stop saying things that are racist, anti-Semitic, or homophobic.
I had misunderstood what "Checks & Balances" meant in my civics education. Apparently it means that the balance is tipped in favor of whoever can write the biggest checks to legislators & justices.

My wife has a soft spot for Tiki bars. It's been a while since we moved up to the Portland Oregon area, and I'm going to take her to this bar/restaurant for dinner, the second oldest one in America, as a surprise. It's 75 years old. She's not on Mastodon but...don't tell her. The sign is real Americana kitsch.

"The court ruled 6-3 for designer Lorie Smith despite a Colorado law that bars discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, gender and other characteristics. Smith had argued that the law violates her free speech rights."
Honestly, fuck the Supreme Court. She had no standing, had no injury and the letter she said prompted her lawsuit was fake. Her "web design company" was only hypothetical, yet they ruled for her???
Now they've destroyed anti-discrimination state laws if artists for hire are involved. FOR HIRE, AS IN RUNNING A BUSINESS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. FFS. I wonder how the definition of "artist" will now get stretched. Does "writers" include journalists working for a news site or internal newsletter?

Installing solar and batteries on rooftops would more than meet the need for power generation, at their current levels of efficiency. All the pieces are there, we just need to will to do it.

My house generates more power, through solar, than it uses. That extra power is fed back into the grid, for other people to use. I don't make much from it, but that's OK, I'm powering one or two other houses, so they don't need to pull power from a gas or coal power plant. I can afford it.
But to get the utility company to allow me to do that, I had to justify the size of my solar installation. I waxed poetic about all the energy-hungry things I planned to do, so they would say yes.
They have been saying, our governments that climate collapse is decades away, a hundred years, that we can "accommodate" climate changes.
Climate collapse is HERE NOW.
WE must Build All the Renewables Needed to make carbon fuels unneeded and redundant. Build enough solar and wind tio REPLACE ALL oil and gas, everywhere, every land, right now.
We must demand it now, force it if they do not begin.
This out-of-control Supreme Court must be reformed:

β binding code of ethics
β full investigation of corrupt gifts

@knitting day 5 of #knitting my #FayeSummerTop: I can actually put it on now, and it fits exactly as I had planned! Iβm so happy I could cry. 
I joined the front and back in the round, and the ease is bang on after I spent so much time doing knitting math to make sure it would fit correctly using different needles and yarn weight than the pattern recommended. It was my first time deviating like that, but I trusted my gauge swatch, math, and most importantly my capabilities/myself, and it totally paid off!
