That's me and my dogs/parrot. Little Man cracked a claw/nail yesterday, and he's in pain. I'm in pain with him, knowing there's nothing I can do to fix it. Others don't get it, but they're my entire support system, and they're as important to me as any person.
I love my cats. I anthropomorphize them. They provide a quiet, steady companionship and comfort I cannot find in people. They comprise a fundamental part of my home and routine. When something is wrong with my cats, the world is wrongβeverything about my day and life is broken without them. Please have compassion for those that grieve for and love their animals. @actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic #autism #autistic

I don't do anything that involves being touched by people I don't know.
[shudder]
Do my #ActuallyAutistic comrades use massage, somatic therapy, osteopathy, TCM, Vagal therapy, Rolfing, and other related disciplines to help with their self-regulation?

Speaking as an elder gay myself:
Yes, it's tragic. I survived, but many others didn't. However, along with the loss, there's also been a gain. Younger LGBTQ+ people haven't had to slowly change their culture, they've been able to re-invent it, in new ways. I don't understand all of it, but I don't need to. It's their community, now, and the kids will be all right.

I'm a fairly average looking white guy, so I've never been pulled aside for "additional screening". I don't know how I'd react. Probably badly.
The first time my doctor said he wanted to perform a prostate exam, I blurted out "Not unless I get dinner and flowers first." Fortunately he found that funny.
@milkteawitch @actuallyautistic omg how could I forget about security? Youβre in an absurdly long line slowly snaking through a crowd of people, and then you get to the actual check point where you put everything through and pray there isnβt a problem
I concede your point, but flip it around - do you really want your employer deciding which lowest-bid-option menstrual supplies you're going to use?
I avoid using anything but the urinal at my office because of the 120 grit toilet paper they buy in bulk.
Woke up this morning totally dysregulated at a level that I havenβt felt in a while. Months.
No clearly obvious reasons why.
Need to explore.
Yes, this happens to #ActuallyAutistic coaches, therapists & educators too. All the know-how in the world canβt stop life.
@StillIRise1963 This strikes a massive nerve. I began to question my attitudes after attending the Stephen Lawrence enquiry. And discovered a lot of stuff Iβd been taught and assimilated about black people was βprejudicialβ even though I was an active anti-racist since my teens. It was hard to drag all that shit out and move to the other side of the line where my sympathies were more βforβ than βagainstβ black people. Now I see the problem is more than overt racism more about our assumptions.
I know I'm a broken record, but I'm going to keep on saying it - your campfire and fireworks this weekend are not worth the chance of starting a fire in these conditions. It's hot, it's dry, it's windy, and the gorge is already burning.

"theyβve backtracked on the amnesty deal offered to Prigozhin, who now faces a terrifying wait"
Considering what Wagner Group has done under his control...
@Barbramon1 Hard right Christian groups manipulated the composition of the Court.
Now they are fabricating the cases that appear before this manipulated Court to get exactly the decisions they are looking for. John Roberts is playing right along.
The country cannot take much more of this. I donβt trust the SCOTUS to do anything to right it alone. Someone should sue the casebringers.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
