Good. Florida needs to be held to account for enabling this fascist.
And yes, I know he was elected by a slim majority, but the key word there is "majority", not "slim".
Woman being interviewed says women are too emotional and illogical to ever be in charge. Then goes further:
"I think that virtually every societal ill that we are facing today is because of women."
OK, Candice. Sure.

@ahbon @actuallyautistic I think they are times when I'm getting a surge of specific neurochemicals in just the right quantities for me ππ I definitely have moments of exhilaration from performing a task using hyper focus... I get a sort of flow feeling & what I'm doing feels effortless... drumming, racket sports, poetry, tetris, motorcycle riding, flying a light aircraft, crunching lots of data, brainstorming, doing synergy things... I would define that as internally generated "aliveness" because I'm creating that moment.
Then I have the unexpected moments of joy... laughing at something or being with animals when they seek you out & are trusting... or making me laugh... the externally generated "aliveness" that is shared.
@ahbon @actuallyautistic for me kayaking is one of these, as can woodworking, depending on circumstances. Arc welding works also. Kayaking is definitely the best one.
Ben πΎ πΎ
This is Ben during our walk about a week ago. He had been to Miss Millie's (groomer). He always gets a neckerchief when he goes there. Ben will be 14 in March.
This is Lori, our girl beagle. I absolutely adore her. π₯°
When I climb into bed, she runs to me to cuddle. If I pay more attention to someone else, like my wife, Lori will scoff before eliciting a trumpet-like bark. She follows me all over the house, tail wagging.
This dog made me fall in love with #dogs all over again. After years of thinking I was a cat person, she made me see the truth. β₯οΈ
I've gotten into the habit of just naming the day of the week:
How are you?
It's Monday.
It's only Tuesday.
It's Wednesday.
It's Thursday!
It's Friday!
They nod their heads and smile, like I've said something profound.
Most of the time when asked βHow are you doing?β I actually tell them, because I forget Iβm supposed to always say, βIβm fineβ even if Iβm not.
You think as an older adult I would have learned by nowβ¦but nope.
Do you?
Not just millennials. I'm an old, and I keep a landline so the spam calls have somewhere to go.
My mobile automatically screens my calls for me.
'Why are millennials all afraid of answering the phone or making phone calls?'
Probably because around 95-98% - and I'm not even hyperbolizing that figure - of all phone calls I have ever received in my life have been increasingly inventive robocallers trying to sell me something or trick me into thinking I owe somebody money, so my default response to a ringing phone is not 'ooh, someone wants to talk!' but 'oh good, another scam.'
Today it was announced that the heat wave is causing equipment to break at refineries (equipment designed to operate at 1000+ degrees) and that's going to cause price increases at the pump. As if they didn't raise prices every time someone farts or burps.
Inflation is down to 2.97% but prices are still higher than they should be.
As we've screamed all alongβthe leading driver of high prices was not inflation, but corporate price gouging. And corporations fund politicians to prevent accountability. That is the problem we face. (Also one reason I refuse corporate money in my run for US Congress).
Ukrainian Fencer Olha Kharlan has had an eventful couple of days. Disqualified from the World Championships, Automatic qualification for the Olympics, and now her own Barbie. #StandWithUkraine

It cost this Motor Trend journalist $821 to charge this EV for a year (nearly 12,000 miles). I guess Iβm not doing so bad comparatively given that I only fill up my gas tank less than once per month (~$70) working from home 3 says per week (70x12mo = $840/yr). It would likely cost me about $500 in electricity at their presumed rates. I think the better solution than going electric is just driving less, if possible. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2022-vw-id4-yearlong-review-update-3-cost-to-run/

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
