Unpopular opinion: The burgeoning US-ian Halloween obsession is due in equal parts to growing up with Disney's Haunted Mansion (est. 1969) and growing up surrounded by a national death cult (est. earlier).

4 yrs ago today, instead of going straight from my car into Marshall's to buy sneakers, I veered off into the PetCo next door. They were having an adoption event. ZOMG THERE WERE PUPPIES EVERYWHERE. I was defenseless. I brought this beautiful 9 month old orphaned bebe home with me. (She had survived parvo but her mama hadn't.) She's almost 5 now & still hasn't grown out of her puppy phase. & that's OK! ❀️ #dogs #DogsOfMastodon #BelgianMalinois #HEYLADYWHEREAREWEGOING

I love Halloween! It's the one time of year that I'm allowed to scare children. All the other times people get upset.

#ICYMI: The legal theory surrounding Trump's ability to run in 2024 has taken a curious turn. Explore the legal arguments, experts' views, and potential impact Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment may have on the upcoming election. thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p

Tell your friend not to take a deep breath. That expression on her face says she just farted, and it may have been juicy.

Holy Shit, I know someone who is currently on a flight from DC to Denver with Lauren Boebert.

What would you do?

@yourautisticlife

To which I would add -
Hollywood alien computers: Yes, I know nothing about these aliens, their computer architecture, the operating system, or their defenses and weapons, but I can hack into their systems and shut everything down at the most appropriate dramatic time, because I am UberGeek!

I'm looking at you, Jeff Goldblum.

I've gotten a good number of new followers lately & I never did this when I joined, so maybe it's time for an intro post:

I'm Mo or Ranyart, either works! I'm trans & queer, living in San Francisco with my partner Enne and our elderly grandma cat Milly.

My main hobbies are handspinning/knitting, cooking, and photography, and I post about all of those here.

I am still finding my footing here socially, and I can be shy at times, but I'm chatty and friendly at heart so feel free to say hello!

Freedom of speech isn't free from repercussions. That's why everyone who works in retail doesn't tell you to go fuck yourself.

Heading home and may not be online later. So goodnight everyone.

Autistic me
Is very much the only me
There are others I pretend to be
To show what others want to see
I wish that I could always only be
Autistic me.

@dyani

That works. Hit the really bad spots with acetone, and then use the regular eyeglass cleaner on the rest.
Don't use something like nail polish remover that's colored, scented, or promises to "nourish your nails". All that will leave an oily residue that would be a mess to clean off.

@CynAq

@dyani

They were talking about his spouse's hair spray, and ethyl alcohol would be best for that. Oil base contaminates respond best to acetone. Water soluble to ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. The nice thing is they don't leave a residue, and don't damage the AR coat.

@dbc3

I don't know if this would help you - it certainly helped me - but you can get a replacement switch for your garage door that will close it automatically after a defined period (I used 10 minutes) if no one is moving in and out of the garage. I also got a deadbolt that locks itself after 3 minutes. No more forgotten doors and locks.

@AutisticAdam

Biting my tongue and the inside of my cheek, just this morning, standing in line to pick up my new glasses, while the clerk and customer ahead of me talked about which solvents would be best to keep eyeglasses clean.
I deal with solvents every day. I know which ones take care of oil based and water soluble contaminates. I know which ones are safe to use on anti-reflective coat. But I was good, I stayed quiet.
