The problem I run into is that my job *is* one of my special interests. I'm a science fiction geek, I've been one my whole life, and my company works with NASA and ESA and builds things that go into space and do sciencey stuff.
Trying to find a balance here is the hardest thing I've done. Ever.

I'm feeling hermit-like the last few days, and I'm trying to figure out why. I resent anyone trying to talk to me, or be in the same room with me. I resent my to-do list. I resent having to go to work. I resent e-mails in my work inbox.
This just flipped on about a week ago, and I can't figure out why.

My addiction is nicotine. Used to be from cigarettes, now it's vape, but nicotine and I work well together.

Cream of Rice cereal, for hot food, and either milk toast (buttered toast in warm milk) or bread & milk (cubed bread in milk). Not that often, but when it's required, it's all that will do.

A few years ago I sat in a meeting while a (no longer here) electronics engineer mansplained astronomy to the (female) program lead scientist who was visiting from NASA.
It was entertaining AF when she explained all the very many ways he got it wrong.

My dentist uses more topical anesthetic on me than on most of her patients (according to her), but I've found my experience varies, depending on whether I'm focusing on what's happening in my mouth, or if I've gone somewhere else in my head. If I'm somewhere else, I don't feel anything. If I'm focusing on what's happening in my mouth, I can feel all of it.
I make it a rule to go somewhere else.
