20+ years ago, a neighbor who knew I did dog rescue brought me a dove they'd rescued from a flock of crows. It made sense to them. No one wanted an injured dove, so she stayed. We trained each other. At night I'd open her cage, she'd fly to the kitchen island for her evening treat of chopped nuts, fly around the house for a while, then fly back to her cage and I'd close the door. She'd fly to my lap or shoulder Smarter than I ever expected, for 15 years.
In 2015, I made some masks out of plastic bottles and utensils as well as a few other items gleaned here and there.

I can do that as long as the person on the other side is clear.
This morning was a long exchange of messages on a single topic, then another message on what appeared to be the same topic, but was actually an entirely different thing. It took several more exchanges and screen captures, with me saying what she was after didn't exist, before she said "Oh, yeah, no, this is this other thing, not that thing."
OK, in the vein of "weird things I wouldn't normally ask"...
There's been discussion about those of us who don't get accurate signals from our bodies. Does anyone else suppress the need to urinate? If I get the urge to go, but I'm in the middle of something, I just turn it off. Later it'll come back, sometimes critically, but for that time I just no longer feel it. Is this a weird thing that only I do?
Cat5 #Otis: Rapid intensification is becoming more common. GHG emissions from FF burning, deforestation & IDU AG are making the ocean much hotter & hotter oceans make rapid intensification more likely. Otisβs growth was so rapid & intense -some forecasters call it βexplosive intensification.β In 24 hrs, top-end windspeed increased by 115 miles/hr -expected symptom of CC, & thus humanityβs ever-increasing burning of fossil fuels. confirming what we expected. #ClimateCrisis https://heated.world/p/calling-this-climate-change-is-not
"Bush II(?)"
More commonly referred to as "Bush The Lesser". By me, anyway.

Fortunately, the GOP members are the minority in the Senate. They can propose anything they want, that doesn't mean they'll get it.
I took this photo exactly 20 months ago, on the day russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Despite all pessimistic intel estimates, Ukraine has been fighting for its freedom for 608 days now. Please continue to #StandWithUkraine for as long as it takes for our victory!

I'd need mine to have a third side, that says "Don't you have somewhere else you can be?"
@ScottSoCal That's a tough point. We've done it numerous times, and have 2 more that are getting up to that point.
Give them the best life you can, and they'll know it. It's all we can do. And we're still not worthy of dogs...
That point in your dog's life when you know the end is coming up sooner than you like, and you want to cherish every moment, so you let him steal your chair for a nap and you just sit somewhere else.
This happened to me, too, playing pool, although it was during my drinking days and I am not a reliable witness. I have experienced similar when writing, in more recent years, and, as someone else posted, I call it "flow".
Just got wondering today - have any of you had hyperfocus kick in when it was something you were doing, not something you're watching/reading/studying?
I used to play pool, at an average amateur level, and two games have always stuck in my memory. I *was* the game. I made shots I never could before. Everything was the pool table, and the cue in my hands. Both times it just happened, and I tried to to it on purpose, but that never worked. Just those two games. Autism? Or not?
