I'm noticing a lot of "I'm bored of Mastodon, I'm going back to #Twitter" posts.
In case they are genuine, here's what I've found works:
β« try to post content, not complaints. People want to engage with you, not your gripes
β« try to learn. If you're putting in an effort to be part of the community, the community will welcome you
β« Try to avoid posting links to tweets, definitely don't cross-post. People want Mastodon content
β« Reply! Reply! Reply! Everyone wants to know someone's reading and considering their content, even you
β« Don't lurk. Many of us check for a filled out profile, avatars, and posts, before we follow someone back
β« Chill. It's a big new world that doesn't serve everything up to you
β« Avoid the trap of rebuilding Twitter here
Feel free to link this post to people struggling with Mastodon. It's what I've found works, and may not work for everyone
@kimmymonte And someone clean out the top drawer of the nightstand.
@MorpheusB Who's a good boy? Ah, you already know it's you.
Politics, TFG
@aravosis The likelihood TFG truly does not have any other stolen gov't property and classified docs squirreled away among his various properties and residences is nil.
The guy's a greedy magpie. He'll steal anything that isn't nailed down and feels that anything he covets automatically belongs to him. Then he makes others pay for his larceny.
The sooner he's criminally charged, the better.
@kathygriffin His Wiki page paints him as obsessively heterosexual, so that rules me out as a love interest.
@albinokid Congratulations to all involved, and what an incredible gift the surrogate has given you!
Over on the bird app, my announcement of the birth of our child was met with tons of happily supportive posts, but also a fair number of grossly homophobic and virulently anti-surrogacy posts. I can safely say that here on Mastodon, Iβve only seen happily supportive posts, so thank you all for that! #SafeSpace #Fatherhood #Joy #IAmNowCoParentingATinyHuman
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
