Like Malcolm X, Nina Simone was a passionate activist and dedicated to the Black liberation struggle. She posed in this photo very intentionally as an homage to Malcolm. π€ππΏ #BlackFriday #BlackMastodon #Mastodon

I'm making friends with as many of them as I can: the Age of Cats is coming π³ππΈ
@ScottSoCal @RickiTarr I convinced grandpa ~2015 to get a Prius when we needed to replace the van grandma used to drive. Itβs a 2009 hybrid, and for a guy whoβs been a farmer his whole life driving mostly trucks, I was happy he ended up loving it.
He passed this summer, and itβs still holding up under me, but Iβd love to upgrade. Unfortunately, canβt get an EV bc Iβm in rural nowhere and nearest charging station is 1.5 hours away π¬
@PaulSchleifer
We're in an evolution race with our domesticated animals.
I do check in on Twatter sometimes but it has become a shithole social media company. Itβs a cesspool and Iβm tired of the aggression. Some people say to stay there and fight, but weβre fighting with morons who will never change their minds, with Muskovite fanboys, and with bots. Democrats need to work with every outreach possible, but itβs exhausting.
Thatβs the toot.
"When it comes to individual decisions, masks are among the most low-cost and most effective steps that can be taken to broadly reduce transmission of a multitude of viruses."
For me at least, getting onto @Mastodon and appreciating the structure of the platform and the tone of conversation has made these other pop-up social networks (Twitter replacements) totally unattractive. No, I donβt want to move up on a wait list by βreferring 5 friendsβ; no, I donβt want to be part of another Jack Dorsey project; no, I donβt want to be part of something with weird completely top-down control. Mastodon broke me for other platforms.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
