When I came out as trans, I was asked "How long have you known?"
I expected the question, because the popular narrative in media is "I've always known since I was little", but that's honestly an uncommon experience for many of us.
I would reply "A couple of months, and all my life."
It was like navigating a dark corridor filled with obstacles, then finding a flashlight to see the path I'd taken. So much resolved and suddenly made sense when I finally had context for it.
