The population of Russia largely supports the attack on Ukraine, they just don't want their own children sent off for it. My sympathy for Russians is now gone, and I'm just left with disgust and loathing.

Putin is aware of the discontent of the Russian people who have been affected by the war in Ukraine, so he is avoiding them out of fear. He is now in a state of panic, desperately trying to find a way to win back the support of the people. This is according to former head of the Moscow FSB Yevgeny Savostyanov.
"that phrase "it's okay to be white.""
The only time I've heard that is spoken by a white supremacist, lamenting that suddenly they're being called out for being racist, and they don't like it.
The problem isn't that they're white, it's that they're racist.
One thing that's being lost in a lot of the coverage related to Scott Adams' racist rant is that he tried to present (the 40-whatever percent of) black people (who participated in this poll) as being outrageous for objecting to that phrase "it's okay to be white."
And if it's a phrase you've never heard before, maybe you take it at face value and go, "Oh, so now they don't even think it's okay for white people to exist?!"
But it's deeper than that. 1/
So I did an #introduction post a while back, but I deleted it because it wasnβt hilarious or absurd. But now Iβve learned you can just be yourself, and that no one on Mastodon is going to make fun of you for having had the phrase βWhoopity Slapβ emblazoned across the back of your letter jacketβthe one that you earned for your two years on the staffs of both the newspaper and the literary magazine.
Even back then I was proto-tooting by submitting brilliant aphorisms to lit mag like βYou can never have too many bagelsβ and βIOU stands for Immediately Obsolete Underwearβ. You should have seen me and my friends celebrating our own high school theme week with special events like βInternational Alter-Ego Dayβ and βInternational Goth Dayβ. High school was a shitshow but my friends were the best support I could have hoped for given I was literally the only out person at my school. This was in the late 90s.
But enough of my high school panegyrics. Tell me something about your formative years.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) I dropped my subscription when they fawned over Midwest Nazis, back in 2016. And I told them why.
I'll make an #introduction post like the rest of the cool kids. π
Hi, Iβm Adam (he/him,

Lightning round. Good: democracy, equal rights, the #LGBTQ community (especially trans kids). Bad: fascism, the patriarchy, billionaires, book bans.
Happy Friday! Iβm about to head out to drinks with a couple former coworkers. If you donβt hear from me for a while, itβs because I felt it best not to mix alcohol and social media. π
Wishing everyone a nice weekend! π
If you ask many folk in the US what the population of North America was in 1650, they will start counting up colonists. They have to be reminded that there were *millions* of native Americans living in North America.
They know that indigenous people were here! They just didn't realize that they mattered.
The conversation soon devolves into a pedantic discussion around the word "America."
Wanting your country to be better and do better is very patriotic.
βI love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.β -James Baldwin
I've seen people saying they don't include alt-text with their art/photos because they don't want to 'explain the meaning' of their work.
Alt text isn't for people who can see your images perfectly. It's for those who can't. Your desire to 'let the viewer decide the meaning' isn't more important than people's disability needs, and the alt text and meaning of the art are mutually exclusive. Get over yourself. If you have the spoons, add alt text. If you don't, use # Alt4Me or

I like John Scalzi's take on Anson Mount as Pike:
"Also, SNWβs cast is generally pretty and pleasant and Iβm enjoying watching Anson Mountβs pompadour possibly more than a nominally straight man should."
Day 25: Favorite Discovery episode
Season Two, Episode One: Brother
Love the new Captain Pike
Hello. Iβm pretty quiet on here, but I would like to connect with other people in the Wilsonβs Disease community. A hashtag yielded nothing, so Iβm starting it here. I once described those kinds of laws - enforced against me or not - as legal terrorism. They serve to keep me and everyone like me on notice that I'm not allowed to relax, to be myself, because they're watching me, and waiting for a misstep.
I'm cis, but I'm gay, and I'm old enough to have been an adult when it was illegal (a felony, even) for me to have sex with another consenting adult in my own home.
That's some serious side-eye Zelenskyy is giving Dotard.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
