When our homes turn into Amazon-owned surveillance fortresses, we lose any control over our safety and privacy.
Ring isn't safe. Not for homeowners, not for communities. Calling them "security devices" is farcical
Compared to any media in the US, The Guardian is one step away from forming an anarchist mob and throwing molotov cocktails at Big Ben.
@StillIRise1963 I am happy that Mr Newsom is showing other Democrats what fighting back might look like. And Newsweek? Jeez, Americans have trash media, huh? Mind you, as a Brit, it always makes me laugh when I see that The Guardian is our βleft-leaningβ newspaper. We need some real media representation from somewhere!
I support boycotting Walgreens Pharmacy, but you tagged Mark, from Modesto.
From the page:
I'm Mark, I'm from Modesto and I love to surf whenever I get a chance.
Kevin McCarthy did this. He showed contempt for our democracy.
He showed contempt for the officers who were mercilessly beaten to protect all of us, including him.
Five officers who defended the Capitol are no longer with us. Kevin McCarthy showed contempt for their families.

@hannu_ikonen I've not used walgreens for nearly a decade because of this pattern of behavior. The pharmacists' job is to make sure im not taking meds that interact poorly, not to decided if i should take them at all.
At another place where I've been for years and know all the regulars, someone brand new came in and started asking if their were groups providing transportation or other assistance to women seeking abortions. My first thought was "sting operation". That $10K bounty Texas is offering probably has people scouring everywhere.
After Roe was overturned last summer remember when advocates told folks to not create Facebook groups or DM correspondence organizing to help folks with abortion access? This is why ππΏ
Facebook and Google are handing over user data to help police prosecute abortion seekers
Lately I've started objecting to the whole "culture wars" name. There is no war, there's a minority of people who decided society hit peak perfection at some time in the past, and changes are no longer allowed.
Sorry, cupcakes, that isn't how societies work.
I've been saying for awhile Elon Musk's vaunted "first principlesβ shtick is simply a cover for being incurious.
I don't know how much more evidence you need. Even the tiniest amount of curiosity would have shown him the error of this beef. Alas.
On the bright side: what an incredible story. I am fortified for having learned about Halli Thorleifsson.

The Russians released a video of the heinous killing of an AFU soldier in an attempt to demoralize Ukrainians, but this only served to further enrage both the military and civilians towards Russia. In response, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, represented by Yusov, has promised to find those responsible for the shooting.
I remember when I joined Mastodon during one of the exoduses last year in November, one of the first hashtags I saw was #mosstodon.
And I thought, "what the heck???... there are people here who take pictures of moss?"
I slowly and silently have become unbearably envious of the #moss people and have been secretly dying to post to the hashtag.
Well my wife and I went hiking at a nearby wooded preserve area just north of Houston and lo and behold!... I now had my chance. Did I still have my photographer's eye? Would my photo be worthy to offer to the #lichensubscribe lovers?
And so! My first and admittedly, probably my only leap into the world of those who take pics of #FuzzyTrees
They turned out pretty cool though so who knows... maybe again.
Fearful Scout and Sad-eyed Speedy are neither fearful nor sad anymore. And they are the best of friends. #dogsofmastodon.

When your goal is to reduce the country to fascism, you can't just say it like that.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
