When I get home we go outside - for seconds, if it's raining, for up to half an hour if it nice, then I put Scooter on the floor while I fix dog dinners. Usually she explores and entertains herself, but now she goes straight to the downstairs powder room, which she's declared as prime nest spot. Woe to the dog that approaches that room.

I wear glasses, and Scooter loves nothing more than being able to grab them off my head.
I also wear an earring, but she leaves that alone - she just wants the glasses. If I take them off and get her near my face she (gently) bites the bridge of my nose, to let me know she's won.

Scooter is a rescue, and is blingual. On the way to her water bowl, she says "Scootie want some agua?" When she's finished drinking, she belches, then laughs.
And when I'm holding her, she throws herself forward or backward, so she can hang upside down from my hand, and wrestle with my free fingers.

Scooter hasn't been happy with winter this year. Too much rain, too much wind, too much cold. This is southern California, we made winter illegal here, back in the 1930s.

Two tornadoes caused damage in the LA basin, and a weak tornado damaged mobile homes in Ventura County (where I live).
I can handle earthquakes, but I reject tornadoes.

The last dog I had to let go spent her last 4 days in an emergency clinic, hooked up to an oxygen tank, while I accepted that nothing could be done to correct a collapsed trachea. But I held her while she got her shot, and everyone in the clinic stopped by to grieve with me. They were extraordinary. I remember every one of them.
