Today my hospital has ended masking requirements. Next week I'm scheduled for an educational program mandatory for all doctors on staff entitled "Foundations of Safety Training." Something looks wrong here.

What! Another hummingbird pic?

I actually wanted to post a picture I took today of two hummingbirds. But then I snapped this one that really shows of the iridescent feathers. I'm not sure about the sex, the dark area on could be markings or a young male or it could be just shadow. I'm going with young male, feel free to correct if you know better.

I'm in an incredibly privileged position- I'm LGBTQ, but cis and gay (which isn't always obvious for homophobes), in a blue state, and I don't have to deal with things getting worse that much yet (my family is...well, at least they pretend to listen sometimes). And I'm a ball of nerves a lot of the time, trying to do what I can to help, and mitigate fallout. For those less fortunate...

The milk has gone bad. It took $5 out of mom's purse while she wasn't looking the other day. Stole half a pack of cigarettes and a couple fingers of whiskey. It knows I see it but won't say anything, smiles at me in a conspiratorial kind of way. It's only milk after all. Some of the housepets have gone missing in the neighbourhood now. When questioned, the milk just grins. The milk stands over my bed at night, staring. I pretend to be asleep but I know it knows I am awake. I'm afraid of the milk. It's expiry date was only a short while ago and this has all escalated very quickly.
