Wales should be Wexit.
Scotland would be Scexit. Or Sexit, but that could be misconstrued.

My unsolicited two cents:

Gender roles, being artificial constructs, serve the purpose of restricting/limiting/controlling how we present ourselves to the world. Given that as a foundation, I have no respect for the idea of "gender presentation". I present me to the world. I may or may not fit neatly into a category they have in their head, but that has nothing to do with me - that's all them.

@rabia_elizabeth @actuallyautistic thank you for linking that, it was a most interesting read!

it also jives with a thought i’ve been nurturing for a while now. i suspected that i am locating β€˜identity’ at a different epistemological layer than neurotypicals: where it is common to see the self as one thing in a world of things, i always erred on the side of feeling the self as the point opposite the world of things, as the stage on which the phenomena describing the world happen. and the self-as-a-part-of-the-world only happens in the phenomena on that stage. they enter stage right, so to say, and speak of things, some of which affect me. and i do like some of those described things more than others (and am super duper into some of them!), but at the end of the day, my self is more the stage on which that happens rather than the play performed on it.

hence i always struggled a bit with gender as well – not in terms of understanding it as a varied spectrum, or which parts of that spectrum i find more likeable, but in terms of not getting the importance of putting my β€˜me’ on a spot on that spectrum where it reads as β€˜is like this’ and β€˜is not like that’ – when what i feel to be my true self exists only as itself, and all those axes of differentiation can only happen within the play, between characters, but not on the stage. i have only me. and even saying β€˜ah, i must be agender’ places me too much inside the play to describe my true, inner me-ness.

Hey, Virginia! Today is the last day to register to vote or update your registration for the primary elections in June.

All 100 House of Delegates and 40 Virginia State Senate seats are up election in addition to many local-level races. Voters will pick who’ll be on the general election ballots through Virginia’s primary elections. Getting the best candidate is really important.

I went back and read mine in a "what does this say about you" mindset.
Mine describes how I can be useful.

There are often times I'm not sure what I'm feeling - I look for clues in the music I'm listening to. Mostly those are the times I'm feeling too much to really let myself feel it. I don't know if that makes sense outside of my own head, but that's how it works. It's like an overload circuit kicks off, and separates me from the feeling.

I had what I consider an enviable run. As a young engineer introducing computer techniques to a long- established industry with engineers 10 to 35 years my senior, I could pretty much function self-directed. They recognized that, gave me projects way above my pay grade. Then I had a series of jobs in tech companies, some salaried, some contract, but all focused on getting something done for a client. Goal sheets, performance reviews? Nah!

Republicans in Wisconsin are acknowledging that the state has now shifted leftward, and abortion has a lot to do with that. Many Wisconsinites now understand that Republicans don't have their best interests in mind. #RepublicanLies politico.com/news/magazine/202

That would require people being seen as people - you know, actual human beings, with lives and commitments outside of work. That's anathema to retail managers. They just fit cogs into the machine, any way they'll fit.

The thing about bowing to pressure from hateful groups is that it’s not like they ever say β€œcool, we’re satisfied, we’ll back down now.”

They become emboldened, feel justified, and just find new and broader ways to amplify the hate.

I’m looking at you, Target.

I’m autistic. Not an alien. Not a baby.

I’m a human who is worth as much as you because, I am a human.

My value isn’t dependent on what I produce or even what I do.

My value exists because I live and breathe.

And that’s the case for every other #ActuallyAutistic human too.

"I had zero interest in climbing the corporate ladder. I cared about what projects I did"

Exactly this. I love what I do, and what other people do with the things my company makes. Getting promoted would take me away from that, and then it would just be a job, like any other job.
