Climate change is supposed to give SoCal cooler, wetter winters and hotter summers. So far we haven't seen much of the hotter, just the cooler and wetter.
While the rest of the country has been baking, my part of sunny SoCal has been dealing with cool, cloudy weather. My parrot is not happy, she likes warm days.

We have ginger growing beautifully, in coastal Ventura County. We planted it next to a fence, in the shade of an orange tree. It seems to be happy there.

Dealing with some stuff.
Last summer I wound up in the ER, and the doctor told DMV that I'm medically unfit to drive. My license was suspended. Got a DMV hearing and they restored it, and I thought it was done. Now auto insurance non-renewed me, and I'm shopping for insurance, after 20 years with the same company.
Change. Change I have no control over. Change I didn't agree to. I'm trying to get through this part as fast as I can.

My father is a lifelong Bircher fundamentalist. Me, his only son, turned out gay. Our relationship ended the day it finally got through to me that he was perfectly content to see me dead or in prison for the sake of his politics. He's never apologized, and I don't think he'd even be capable of understanding why he should.

The best thing I ever did for myself was get dogs and a parrot, and let myself interact with them, however they and I wanted.
Making weird noises? Parrots love that. Crawling around on the floor playing? Dogs love that. Want unfiltered, unfettered feedback? Dogs and parrots both give that. At home, with my companions, I'm 100% me, whatever that is at the time.
