I've been lurking w/o #introduction but that now just seems unneighborly. So, hi! I'm a humanities & digital scholarship librarian at a midwestern liberal arts college. PhD in English and teaching/research interests in critical digital & #data studies, life writing, US literatures, and #DH. When I'm not parenting or sleeping to recover from parenting, I'm probably running. Slowly. Or reading. Of course.
This is why I will always love #StarTrek
These were the ethos behind it and it shows through. #SciFi #DEI #Diversity
My partner gifted me this beautiful framed print of the first #DeepField taken by the #JamesWebbSpaceTelescope. It makes me feel like I'm peering into a portal into space.

Samsung just offered to have my phone track my movements and let me know when I'm near a store with "offers".
Stop it with this shit you asshats

The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, not as a moral standard, but as a social contract.
If someone does not abide by the contract, then they are not covered by it.
In other words: The intolerant are not following the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance.
Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated.
Yesterday I realized that 2023 will be the 10th anniversary of the original indie publication of my novel The Red: First Light, a book that marked my return to novel-length science fiction after a years-long hiatus (and got me my only Nebula-award nomination in the novel category). #timeFlies
Twitter just suspended the account for Washington D.C.'s public transit system, maybe for posting the buses' real-time assassination coordinates

Love, love, love Katie Porter. Have watched her in action and she makes them squirm, she doesn't back off, she can't be bought, and that is the kind of Senator we need.

@ScottSoCal That's great, Scott! I ran when I was younger, but I enjoy the walking so much more.
As long as we keep having rainy days here in #california, Iβll just keep posting rainy pics of my kids. βοΈ

It was cardio day, and it was a good one! Felt great on this morning's power walk, and after a day-long training at work, it felt really good to get out and move with the dog after dinner. #walking #fitness #exercise #accountability

If you truly want to see crime reduced, you would be hell-bent on ensuring inmates leave prison in a better headspace than when they went in.
If youβre focused, instead, on taking as much from them as possible, youβre not really interested in reducing crime. What youβre interested in, is satiating your lust for revenge.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
