If you truly want to see crime reduced, you would be hell-bent on ensuring inmates leave prison in a better headspace than when they went in.

If you’re focused, instead, on taking as much from them as possible, you’re not really interested in reducing crime. What you’re interested in, is satiating your lust for revenge.
