The real story about the Google layoffs is less a story about Google & more about how broken the US immigration system is. How is it that people can be working in a country for 5, 10, 15 years without being granted any kind of stable immigration status? As an American immigrant to Canada, we had permanent residency within a few years. At 5.5 years landed now, we’re in the last steps of the citizenship process. It should not be so hard to get status in a country you live, work, and pay taxes in.

A friend sent this:

Additional searching led me to this tweet from from “Rob O’Donnell,” which is the first appearance I’ve been able to find of the supposed “antifa poster” online. The Daily Mail article was published about an hour after the tweet.

The person who tweeted it (“Rob”) is a former NYPD detective. So perhaps that reverse image search was leading me in the right direction? 5/

I'm not even prepared to get infected with #covid for a family meeting with people whom I haven't seen in more than a year.

People take that very personally very quickly.

But why do I have to give up a part of my health to show my care and love for them, while they refuse to isolate and wear masks to show their care and love for me?

The #pandemic has shown me how one-sided much of my care and love has been.
