I'm a long time #ActivityPub user with @nextcloud, but only started playing with #PixelFed and #Mastodon last year, when I decided to begin deactivating, and stop consuming ALL corporate social media, and as much from #BigTech as possible. I'm also a #musician - #drums, #guitar, #bass, #tenorSax. I've played in dozens of bands over the last 25 years but am now retired as "a grumpy #soundtech, but I ain't grumpy!

Lots and lots of rich people inherit wealth and use it to make "big-bet" investments in things, funneling wealth into their hobbies or interests.

Rich people can afford to do that because if these bets fail, they'll be fine. It's easy to hit in roulette when you get to play multiple times, less so when it's your life savings at stake.
