Also one of the ways that autocracies trying to bring down democracy like to worm into people's minds. "Both sides are equally bad and neither side does anything good" is a recipe for destroying voter morale and miring citizen involvement in politics.
Has been used to excellent effect by Russian trolls and bots.
GMC Hummer EV review: bummer EV
GMC has reached the point of diminishing returns when it comes to battery size and weight. Itβs some 2,000 pounds or so heavier than the Rivian R1T, thanks to that giant battery, but doesnβt even return significantly more range. The Hummer is rated for 329 miles, but the Rivianβs smaller 135kWh battery can last for 314 miles, and I donβt feel like I need a runway to bring it to a stop.

Whenever I say something awkward, I remember the time when I was seated on a plane next to a businessman who told me he worked for OβReilly Auto Parts and he asked me if I was familiar and, on an otherwise silent plane, I proceeded to:
SING THE JINGLE
I knew it was weird, but I couldnβt stop. To make it worse, once I had finished singing βOh oh oh, OβReilly!β I summoned the deepest voice Iβve ever used and finished with:
AUTO PARTS
This always reminds me that whatever I just did wasnβt THAT bad, so hopefully it helps you too.
I, a lowly adjunct, just publicly called out a tenured professor for using a studentβs work (a tutorial she made) as the basis of a project in his class, without any mention of her.
Soβ¦ Iβm probably going to be looking for a new place to teach soon. If anyone needs an experienced teacher for a library school, hit me up π

Youβre right. Iβve used Google & Alexa too. Alexa drove me nuts with βby the wayβ¦β all the time.
Siri, however is uniquely stupid.
Ranting about Apple products
I feel the need to rant about my recent experiences with #Apple products & the increasing number of issues

Last week, whenever I asked my HomePods to run any of my Shortcuts:
Siri: βOkay, to what value?β

Today, when I ask Siri on HomePod to control my thermostat or turn on lights:
Siri: It looks like you havenβt setup any HomeKit accessoriesβ¦β

I am not the same as you.
You are not the same as me.
And that's ok.
I can respect you.
You can respect me.
But i am not going to suspend reality.
Realities I have lived, endured.
And nor should you suspend yours.
Realities you have lived, endured.
And that's ok.
Let's be kind to each other as fellow travellers on this planet, in this space and time.
The Kaylon have setup their own Mastodon instance.
Iβm not sure if this to maintain peaceful discourse with humanity or if we should be concerned.
Even if they mean well, be careful. You could still lose a leg.

Oh, it's supposed to snow in Atlanta this weekend? Yeah okay, Brother. No, I'm not surprised. You could tell me dinosaurs were back, Pee Wee Herman is the new Grand Vizier of Pakistan, and there's a new virus that makes people sing "Stayin" Alive" continuously, until they (ironically) drop dead, and I still wouldn't blink an eye.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
