One thing that's being lost in a lot of the coverage related to Scott Adams' racist rant is that he tried to present (the 40-whatever percent of) black people (who participated in this poll) as being outrageous for objecting to that phrase "it's okay to be white."

And if it's a phrase you've never heard before, maybe you take it at face value and go, "Oh, so now they don't even think it's okay for white people to exist?!"

So I did an #introduction post a while back, but I deleted it because it wasn’t hilarious or absurd. But now I’ve learned you can just be yourself, and that no one on Mastodon is going to make fun of you for having had the phrase “Whoopity Slap” emblazoned across the back of your letter jacket—the one that you earned for your two years on the staffs of both the newspaper and the literary magazine.

Even back then I was proto-tooting by submitting brilliant aphorisms to lit mag like “You can never have too many bagels” and “IOU stands for Immediately Obsolete Underwear”. You should have seen me and my friends celebrating our own high school theme week with special events like “International Alter-Ego Day” and “International Goth Day”. High school was a shitshow but my friends were the best support I could have hoped for given I was literally the only out person at my school. This was in the late 90s.

But enough of my high school panegyrics. Tell me something about your formative years.

I've seen people saying they don't include alt-text with their art/photos because they don't want to 'explain the meaning' of their work.

Alt text isn't for people who can see your images perfectly. It's for those who can't. Your desire to 'let the viewer decide the meaning' isn't more important than people's disability needs, and the alt text and meaning of the art are mutually exclusive. Get over yourself. If you have the spoons, add alt text. If you don't, use # Alt4Me or .

MAGA Republicans object to U.S. aid going to Ukraine to help the democracy preserve itself and defend its citizens against an unprovoked attack by Putin-led Russia. But those same take no issue with taxpayer dollars funding Secret Service-provided protection of a twice-impeached former U.S. president who committed crimes while attempting to overthrow of their own democracy.

MAGA Republicans, along with the Republicans whose cunning and cowardice enables them, are America’s shame.
