"I have lived my life in fear of being found out: as Chinese, perhaps, but really as stupid and ugly and not good enough and incapable of ever being so. But hereβs Quan, the same as he was when he was a kid, embodying all of the qualities that actually matter in the pursuit of a life well-lived: love for and faith in the people in your life who see you, and the candid recollection of the journey it took to get you to a place where you can finally see yourself. Itβs not the awards that matter, itβs only this."
Throwing this out there again. My roommate and fellow trans woman will be in need of help once I move out. I cannot take her to where I am going. I no longer have the resources to take care of her and getting her on her feet took too long for me because of her situation (but she's almost there.) If anyone can help please contact me for details. She will be on the streets in a red state or back with her abusive parents if we cannot find somewhere for her to go. #trans #lgbtq #transgender
@MKSinSA One time while on a walk, Kassy the dog was confronted by an inquisitive hummingbird, who hovered a foot away from her face. After a few seconds, Kassy made her move. βWoof!β I donβt have that shot, but here she is with a butterfly.
"'It turned out that one of the biggest risks to our business model was catering to a very tightly knit group of investors who exhibit herd-like mentalities,' said a senior executive at the bank. 'I mean, doesnβt that sound like a bank run waiting to happen?'"

When I was in Luxembourg this weekend, I saw these embossed markings on crosswalk buttons that show the layout of the crossing. This one shows multiple car lanes, tram tracks and inbetween pedestrian islands. #accessibility
Had to explain to a friend about credit unions yesterday, their funds are at a "nickel-and-dime-you-to-death" big name #bank. Surprised not more people know about credit unions. (also NCUA insured, but funds are collected from members, nonprofit).
@zeljkazorz @sans_isc I got an email from a company saying basically βwe banked with SVB, so weβre using a new bank, here are the new routing numbers.β
Excuse me but I do not ACH money to numbers provided by unsolicited emails.

βThere is no debate to argue here. Trans people have been here forever and arenβt going anywhere. There is no ideology here. Itβs simple. Trans rights are human rights. Anything stating the contrary is wrong.β

Because I am super earnest, I like LinkedIn Learning's marketing line about "creating a culture of learning."
I mean, sure, it's corny, but the only way we get better is by dedicating time to learning.
Many years ago, I was photographed for the Dear World project, and the motto I chose to write on my body was "keep learning."

I was 48 when I sold my first script, 52 when it got made, 54 when it was released.
Let me and tonightβs #Oscars be your reminder that it is never too late, you are never too old.
And ladies, as #MichelleYeoh said, we are NEVER past our prime.
Donβt stop until youβre dead.
@moliver @Talia_christine OMG what is it in the PNW that makes everybody crave IPA? Iβve yet to find a pub in Victoria that serves Rickardβs Red or Guinness on tap, but every one of them has eleventyone varieties of IPA (mainly local) with descriptions of how hoppy they are. Likewise the liquor stores have a zillion IPAs & maybe two brown ales if youβre lucky (& that will be a honey brown). Hopps per se are bitter, they should be used sparingly. Do not approve.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing.
