Kazakhstan Seizes Russia's Launch Facility at Baikonur

The most efficient place to launch rockets is close to the equator, far away from populated areas. The Soviet Union chose the open steppes of Kazakhstan to build its Baikonur Cosmodrome. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, Roscosmos continued to use Baikonur, blasting its Soyuz, Progress, and Proton rockets from the facility. Earlier this month, Kazakhstan seized Russian assets at Baikonur, alleging that a subsidiary of Roscosmos called TsENKI hasn't been paying its bills. This could put future rocket launches in jeopardy.

•One to speak on Arab American students—I said no & referred an Arab woman & activist
•One to speak on my experience in Turkey providing earthquake relief, on a panel with a Turkish scholar—I said yes

Lesson: You don’t need to be a voice for the voiceless—just learn to pass the mic.
