Looking for journalists!!
I just produced a music video with 5 nonbinary and trans artists and activists, responding to harmful decisions to our community by the UK government and focusing on inspiring empathy. This is probably the first art project funded by supporters on Mastodon. I can't say much more at this stage, but I'm happy to send a private link to #journalists who may be interested in reviewing this project on its release and supporting the #transgender and #nonbinary communities.
It's weird when people think I can't be autistic, because I "speak so well."
Even putting aside how problematic that is as an assessment of anyone, there's the matter of how literally everything I say or type has been workshopped while talking to myself many, many times, in some cases over a period of years. Including this. This right here. I practiced this.
My head is like a carefully curated collection of index cards full of things I might be called upon to say, from which I read as needed.
If you are a creative person, one who dares to challenge norms, who prefers a small business over big corporates, and who cares deeply about causes that move your heart, then I made some things for you. I mainly do music about neurodiversity, gender, mental health and the climate emergency but I also have a small business of my handmade jewellery (vegan materials) that is for people of all genders. Another successful Drag Queen Story Hour defense in DC
On the 8th of April, another drag queen story hour was successfully held on Barrack's Row in SE Washington DC. A stout defense by umbrella-wielding drag defenders deterred anyone from mounting a serious attack and shielded the kids and performers from low level harassment.
Weeks ago, an attempt by Proud Boys to forcibly break throught similar defenses in Silver Spring was defeated outright. This time around, they didn't even try.
