Not thinking when he made humans...and that's why I don't believe in God...
A Nigerian living in the UK has "discovered" a new lake and named it Iyi Ojemba.
Mazi Uba Acho, a native of Igbo Naton in W Africa, highlighted the absurdity of the colonialist mindset that sought to claim discovery of places already known to locals. He cited Mungo Park's claim to the River Niger in Nigeria and David Livingstone's claim to the Zambezi River, Zambia, and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
What! Another hummingbird pic?
I actually wanted to post a picture I took today of two hummingbirds. But then I snapped this one that really shows of the iridescent feathers. I'm not sure about the sex, the dark area on could be markings or a young male or it could be just shadow. I'm going with young male, feel free to correct if you know better.

Living car-free in a beautiful small city in the American Midwest.
Have visited 40+ countries, and have lived in four, but tend to stay closer to home these days. Still interested in learning about other places.
Also love: music; architecture; the outdoors; baked goods; coffee/tea/hot chocolate; your adorable pets and other animals; woodblock prints and other art; and this planet that we all need to take better care of.

@hannu_ikonen I can only imagine.
I'm in an incredibly privileged position- I'm LGBTQ, but cis and gay (which isn't always obvious for homophobes), in a blue state, and I don't have to deal with things getting worse that much yet (my family is...well, at least they pretend to listen sometimes). And I'm a ball of nerves a lot of the time, trying to do what I can to help, and mitigate fallout. For those less fortunate...

Here, have some motivational rocks.
Also, a woman jogged past me huffing and puffing. I smiled at her and she laughed apologetically and I said "well done!" and she beamed and said "ah thanks, you too!" and it was nice
Quote from article: Once the Nazis took power they banned books, outlawed drag shows and homosexuality, changed school curricula to remove mention of their atrocities in WWI, and rewrote election laws so theyโd never again lose an election.
My thoughts: A whole bunch of people, myself included, started pointing out parallels between the Trump-era GOP and the Nazis well before he was elected. We were accused of employing hyperbole, and told to "give him a chance."
Well, just call me Cassandra ... because here we are.
Just. Like. I. Said. We. Would. Be.
WE DID IT! Hundreds of people chanted and marched and took over the downtown St. Louis streets for trans rights.

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
