you don't have to understand someone else's gender identity, but disregarding them as irrelevant because you don't "get it" puts you squarely in the same camp as desantis and trump and the rest of the far-right, because you're denying their essential personhood. if you're repeating right-wing talking points, that should be a huge internal red flag and you should probably examine some things at length

trans rights means exactly what it says. it's not a left wing talking point -- it's the human recognition of other humans as humans and accepting them for who they are. you don't have to "get it," but yeah, you do have to treat people who are just trying to live their lives as people
