@hannu_ikonen I was young during the Reagan years. I remember lots of folks being angry, but didnβt understand why. Looking back, Iβm stunned how he started things that would destroy this country and turn it into the current vampire capitalism hellscape. In many ways, he was worse than Trump.
Iβm not getting more conservative as I get older, like the GOP thinks we willβ¦ Iβm now all βseize the means of production, comrades!! Smash fascism, smash racism, smash capitalism!!β π‘π
Sometimes I like to watch old interviews with musicians.
Often Iβm surprised by how different my perception of them is compared to the reality. Iβm sure to a large degree thatβs an intentional curation, making gods out of men.
I was just 13 when Kurt Cobain died in 1994, so at 27 years old he just looked like a grown ass man to me.
Watching his interviews now, he looked so young and even childish. Not a bad thing, just a reflection on how our perceptions can change as we age.

The largest student protest in Florida's history will take place.
Students across the state will walk out of their classrooms to learn a piece of history banned by Florida's legislature, sign an active voter pledge, and enroll in a virtual African American history course.

Different.
I wanted to get a look at the feathers on the brown pigeon that's been coming around. So I sat outside and waited for the pigeons to fly to the bird feeders and finally got a couple pictures. I chose this one because at least you cans see its head.
The thing that I notice, right of the bat, is the tail feathers. When the feathers are fanned out, there is a gap with one feather in the middle. I haven't noticed this with other pigeons. Usually, when the tail is fanned out there is an arc of feathers. So ... it makes me wonder why. Did the pigeon lose those feathers or is it just the way they are?

For example, the autistic tests ask whether you copy characters on TV, to know how to socialise. Thatβs autistic scripting. I thought I didnβt script, because I didnβt copy TV characters.
But by interacting with other autistic people I realised that scripting is so much more than that. That thing where I rehearse interactions with people beforehand? Thatβs scripting. Or where I quietly rehearse a phone call before I make it? Scripting.
Where are these autistic spaces? Right here on mastodon thereβs the actually autistic group https://a.gup.pe/u/actuallyautistic
On reddit, thereβs r/autisminwomen.com which despite its name is not just for cis women, but open to trans and nonbinary as well. r/autism is also good, although there are some gatekeepers who disparage self diagnosis, so be aware.

The teaser trailer for Strange New Worlds season 2 is out, and it is just awesome. Klingons! Kirk! Revolving doors! It's got it all!
I really like the tone of this one - very much character focused rather than showing off a bunch of explosions. And there's a moment with Spock that is just hilariously awkward.
Federal employees killed an endangered Mexican gray wolf.
Affectionately named Rusty by a middle school student in a nationwide contest, the wolf was killed on April 12, leaving behind his likely pregnant mate and several yearling pups.
Get this... The Service quietly authorized the killing on March 29, 2023 β on the day marking the 25th anniversary of Mexican wolvesβ return to the wild.

Did a mental healt walk just after lunch. Clear my head and fill it with nature.
Well, my head got filled with nature allright. There a lot of pollen out there, and I think I caught them all!
Luckily the anti histamines I use help a lot.

Someone just asked me if I'm a bot. I said no but that's what a bot would say. OMG how do I prove I'm not a bot? #ExistentialCrisis
Alt text: it's supposed to clue people in.
Imagine reading out your alt text to a friend.
Would they then be able to join in the conversation, on equal terms with someone who'd seen the original picture? Or did you leave out a crucial bit?
It isn't only for blind people. It might just be that someone's server is running slow that day and the pic hasn't arrived. But same principle either way: loop people in, if they happen to not be able to see the pic just then.
In a conversation on reddit today someone asked if other languages have phrases like "rightie tightie, leftie loosie" to remember which way to turn screws/lids/etc. And one person answers that in Spanish, the phrase is:
"La derecha oprime, la izquierda libera."
or:
"The right oppresses, the left liberates."
(Now I kind of want to put this on a t shirt)
