@autism101 @actuallyautistic yep, and a wardrobe mostly of clothes I haven't taken out since I moved last (ten years ago).
I have a favourite type for each kind of clothing item and then buy lots the same. Anything else in the wardrobe is unlikely to be touched unless needed for a social setting which is hardly ever.
A few years ago there was an offer on Slazenger T's, all kinds of colours ยฃ3 each. I still have many waiting in their packs until I've worn the others out.
Super long; contains me
OK, an #introduction: dwenius = plord = Paul, been online forever, and have enjoyed it pretty much the whole time. I still miss Usenet; I still mourn LJ (DW is great, but the communities did not transfer the way they seem to be doing with Mastodon?); I'm mildly annoyed at the prospect of losing birdsite, where 15 years of careful follow curation gave me a mostly positive, energizing, low-doom-quotient timeline. So, show me your pets being clowns, or the wildlife in your yard, tell me what you are reading or listening to, boast about your awesome friends and the cool things they did. I'm here for it and will boost.
Currently living in VT with my best beloved @anne, by way of 15 years in S.F. and Berkeley, after quite abruptly fleeing northern VA (perhaps a story for another time..."Gallivanting around the countryside in a state of howling delirium can be highly instructive in myriad ways" - (misquoting) Grant Morrison).
I still talk about my kids like a new father, even though they are 25, 19, and alllllmost 17. I'm told this is endearing? whatevs, not gonna stop now. They are amazing human beings, and I'm so very glad to share this earth with them.
My personal blog went offline quite a while back and I haven't finished the work to resurrect it. I will self host it with Ghost; there are a few technical hurdles left to sort out and free time is scant. At /very/ irregular intervals I am apt to drop a lengthy blog post over at One Post Wonder, a lovely little social site with a one-post-per-day policy, run for many years now by a friend; almost all those are private though, so you'd have to sign up to follow me there. Only you can decide if it's worth it!
I collect music obsessively; my #AmbientHouse, #GoaTrance, #TheOrb, #Ultramarine, and #jamband (several flavors) libraries are approaching reference-quality, and I have literal terabytes of live jazz. I'll listen to almost anything (that is not a request or a challenge...).
Currently in heavy rotation: the latest #Polyphia release "RTYWD", a live #FionaApple concert from 1997, "Flood" by #TMBG (after seeing a great, thrice-COVID-delayed concert a month ago), and "Heads" by #Ott.
Never far from the rotation since they were released (desert island list I guess?): #TheOrb "U.F.Orb", #Ultramarine "Bel Air", #Material "Hallucination Engine", #Yes "Close To The Edge", a #SteveKimockBand live recording from the Great American Music Hall on 12/29/04, and #Seefeel "Quique".
Last concert: #TheCometIsComing
Next concert: #Covet
I could go on (and probably will). I'm 99% likely to spin up a second account on heads.social specifically to segment the music fan stuff...
I play guitar half-decently and modular synth like a relentlessly tinkering gnome, including making my own pedals and synth modules. I have shamelessly copied #SteveKimock's entire rig up to and including the #Two-Rock and handmade #ScottWalker guitars but alas, gear is no substitute for talent. The Modular is built around a set of #Wiard modules from Grant Richter and Cary Grace, and includes a bunch of bespoke 1-of-1 type specialty modules. The most recent adds to the studio are a Koma Komplex sequencer and an Erica Synths DB-01. Most of my output is ephemeral live performances (I'm in parts of https://garciapeoples.bandcamp.com/album/100-years-of-solid-dudes for example) but there will be actual releases here. Soon. This decade for sure. I'm getting closer. While you wait, check out the 30 minute "Quadrone" video in my bio, which was a one-take jam I recorded on the modular for an all-night-stream early on in the pandemic.
I have a separate side-hustle tying custom flies and building heavy duty fly rods for people who enjoy suffer^H^H^H^H^H^H chasing pike, musky, and other large North American apex predator fish (Shop link and IG in bio for the 3 people on earth who may be interested).
That I'm still even here to ramble on like this is thanks to the miracle of modern OTC neurotransmitter catalysts, the gift of several years with an extraordinary therapist, and the love of my family. In hindsight, running away from my problems for several decades was a flawed plan. I'm much better now.
I have been reading less lately, absolutely no good goddamn reason, but I am currently waiting for the next volume of #Monstress, hoping for another Innsmouth Legacy novel from @r_emrys, tracking N.K. Jemisin and @aliettedb releases, and keeping current with #GirlGenius both online and by backing every KS for the print versions.
I do not talk about my job or employer online except for vague complaints about broken software/processes. This is a fertile field for the tilling...
OK done for now. Tootles.
By way of #introduction: Iโm grateful and interested to be here. Not a recent Twitter migrant, left earlier bc of toxicity, glad to see old Twitter friends here. Iโm a reader, writer, actor, cat/dog/critter lover who sometimes gets up in front of people and tells stories. I work with/for a tiny nonprofit school in Vermont (The Schoolhouse Learning Ctr).
I enjoy cooking and chatting about cooking; sometimes I take photos of what I've cooked or post recipes I've tinkered with. I make and can jams and can whole tomatoes from our local farms, because Vermont winters require having a little jar of summer at hand when the nights are long. I love the smell of coffee but prefer to drink tea (loose leaf, properly steeped, is a delight).

She adds:
"Weโre not talking about a choice between Joe Biden and some theoretical perfect leader here. Concerns about Bide are expressed as though he exists in a vacuum where Donald Trump, who presents an existential threat to the future of our democracy, doesnโt exist even though heโs Bidenโs likely opponent. And that race shouldnโt be a close call for anyone who values democracy."
Yes. We have to see: many in the media want Trump back in the White House.

@jeffjarvis
the debt ceiling is designed to create crisis on command. Congress sets the limit and the budget, no one else is responsible for this mess.
I'm not surprised Republicans are the only ones willing to use it this way, it speaks to exactly who they are.
Pitiful.
Okay, now Iโm felling sorry for pigeons. This is not a good turn of events. I put one of the feeders up while Iโm sitting outside - before the pigeons showed up. When they showed, I put it away. Then they flew down to find the big feeder empty. But maybe one or two seeds fell out of the hang feeder when I moved it, so they all ended up over there.(send the word to beware). In this picture there are at least 15-20 pigeons in that little space.
Just had a guy and his two kids in the shop, the oldest was 4 1/2, she told me so proudly ... She had a beautiful lavender cardigan on and matching socks ... I told her I loved that colour, we had a little chat about purple and all the purple things we have ... Then she asked me "are you a girl?" ... I looked at her dad and said can I let her know, he said yes
I crouched down to her level and said "that's a nice question you asked" ... and then said "I was born a boy, yuck, and for many reasons I always felt like a girl" ... Her eyes lit up, and I got a huge hugz and she whispered in my ear, "you're a girl"
I am more than likely the first trans person she has met, I made her feel comfortable and listened to ... one at a time ... Her dad thanked me for being kind.
Never dismiss a childs question, you might feel they are abrupt, they are not, they just want to know
First impression are important

Didnโt get to finish grocery shopping because the store had the AC turned up too high and people were walking too slowly. Fortunately my husband is getting it done while I wait in the car so I donโt hit overstimulation.
Before I knew I was #ActuallyAutistic Iโd be beating myself up for being โlazyโ and โdramatic.โ Now Iโm just attending to my sensory needs and remembering THAT IS OKAY ๐

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
