I have written an actual book! It's called "Your Face Belongs To Us: A Secretive Startup's Quest To End Privacy As We Know It." It comes out in September: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/691288/your-face-belongs-to-us-by-kashmir-hill/. Get with the facts, ChatGPT!
You can't "fix" things like gender bias in these chatbot AI things because they're just shattered mirrors reflecting mixed up pieces of their surroundings. You can't "teach" them any better because they can't learn.
The useful thing coming from these projects is increased awareness of these flaws in our culture, but we've got to look to addressing the actual causes, not making the software better at hiding them.
I'll go back to making dumb posts about my cat now. Carry on.
@JamesGleick I mean I exist too, but Chris Licht didn't give ME a show, did he? It's ridiculous to say you have to give Trump a platform because he exists. You throw trash in the trash can, you don't put it on display.
π Near my house, there's an apartment building with a courtyard. Big deal, right? But if you walk up the steps a little bit, there's something about this courtyard that you might find really truly wonderfulβ¦ https://cabel.com/2023/02/25/the-courtyard/
Iβm proud of the beautiful diversity weβve cultivated on staff @TexasObserver, and we make sure to disclose our DEI stats. Always more work to do, but we believe in intersectionality and the staff page is shaping up rather nicely. texasobserver.org/home/staff/ #TexasNeedsAnObserver
@ScottSoCal As well as free spots for those who need it, but from @AdultAutisticsocialist comments, it doesn't appear that this of interest. I don't much appreciate the statement that I believe that those who can't pay can't have a voice and that I discriminate against those on disability and members of the working class (which I am, btw). A lot of presumptions based on nothing and quite uncomradely I have to say. Also, disabled people are allowed to earn money for doing their job, just as you are. Shall I assume that anyone autistic who calls you for a cleaning job can expect you to work for free for your professional services? No. Yet, I do actually provide service to free to those who need, you simply made the wrong assumptions and used it to attack my character.
Mental health realities of living in America.
What the actual fuck is wrong with mental #Healthcare in this damn country? Now that my work schedule has gone back to normal, and I am drowning under the weight of it and my own projects, my #MentalHealth has been in the toilet. I broke down and called the crisis line, and they actually had the gaul to hang up on me after I said that I wasn't suicidal.
I have #BPD I was in crisis, in a bad place, unable to regulate my emotions, and the one god damn thing my therapist tells me to do when I am in that place is call the crisis line and they completely gave up as soon as they found out I wasn't an active danger to myself... Fucking fine, I guess I will just stew in my own anger and self-hatred until I see my therapist in... Oh right, A WEEK...
Am I overreacting? I'll admit that I may be a bit on the hypersensitive side, but it really seems like the CRISIS LINE (Not suicide hotline, different service) should maybe, idk, HELP IN A CRISIS...
I hate phones but what I hate worse is leaving voice messages.
I tried to return a call I needed to for several days, the other party never answered. Didn't leave voice mail.
Finally I decided to at least leave a voice message so they knew I was trying to return their call. I'm quite confident that was the most neurotic voice message they got today. Especially when I concluded it by remembering that I didn't say who I was at the outset, so I added who I was with the trailing words "and this is why I hate to leave voice mail." Click.
I was just let go from my job and Iβm looking for a new place to land. If anyone knows of an open role for a Senior QA with 9 years of experience, please let me know. I have extensive skills in Agile, SDLC, Jira, Confluence, Smoke and regression testing, Postman, documentation and more.
Even if you donβt have a role but see this post, PLEASE BOOST IT so someone else may see it. Thank you.

I've built a new website to consolidate & signpost all my projects & stuff. There's more work to do to get all my creative work & writing off 2 advert-riddled Wordpress sites. But here's the skeleton http://bridgetmckenzie.uk/
Home ownership is the American dream: not only do you get a place to live, free from the high-handed dictates of a landlord, but you also get an asset that appreciates, building intergenerational wealth while you sleep - literally.
