The figure in the doorway is based on a photo my grandfather took long ago where my grandmother is half visible in the doorway. The house is local and unconnected to family but the two came together here.

#AskingAutistics A lot of us have grown up being told to "be more concise", to not be "overly detailed" in how we explain things. Do you feel like that has impacted your ability to understand how to explain to people how you feel?

I've noticed that due to being told this, when people ask me how I am, I just simplify it so much that it ends up being "fine thanks!" even when I'm actually feeling more: "I'm actually really struggling right now"

I am expiring of the cute, two little boys in our neighborhood keep coming to ask me to help them inflate their soccer ball with my bicycle pump.

One of them said the sound of the ball inflating is like "flame trapped inside air".
