I've gotten a good number of new followers lately & I never did this when I joined, so maybe it's time for an intro post:

I'm Mo or Ranyart, either works! I'm trans & queer, living in San Francisco with my partner Enne and our elderly grandma cat Milly.

My main hobbies are handspinning/knitting, cooking, and photography, and I post about all of those here.

I am still finding my footing here socially, and I can be shy at times, but I'm chatty and friendly at heart so feel free to say hello!

Those words were never "okay" they were coined by individuals and governments engaged in slavery and colonization. The words were racist back then, they didn't "become" racist between then and now just because you learned a fact.

I often forget how some cyber habits I have can upset people. This happened today:

Colleague - You're going to [vendor name] event in [USA place] next month. They really should give us lighter notebooks for these trips. How will you take your work PC with you?
Me - I don't. There are sensitive apps and info there. I can lose it. Also, border controls could happen. No way.
Colleague - Huh, so... what will you do?
Me - I use a spare 13" low-end notebook with a fresh linux install, no personal data, no company data. It's light and now it's worth just a few euros.
Colleague - Hah, there's your smartphone anyway!
Me - No way either. Spare Nokia dumbish-phone. The most advanced thing on it is Snake. Maybe.
