Taking this right out into its own little thread, because I feel like I threadjacked @weirdofhermiston's original points. (sorry!)
I came of age in the 90s, in this weird time post-AIDS-crisis but pre-gay-kisses-on-TV. In wider media and culture, who could call themselves gay and who shouldn't be claiming that seemed to revolve around whether you were currently in a physical relationship that was considered a same-sex one.
On the other hand, literally nobody in my IRL vicinity was out. It was such a prudish place that even rumors about a girl's sexuality would get her mocked at school-wide pep rallies. So how in the world would a gay kid even really know they were gay? let alone participate in queer culture?
Obviously, half of that is getting rid of the cruel sexual repression.
But the other half is acknowledging you don't have to be sexual at all -- currently or ever -- to be queer.
If Republicans are going to accuse Biden of weaponizing the Justice system, then:
1) They better damn well have better evidence than an independent grand jury indicted Trump, Trump got a fair trial, and an independent jury found him guilty on all charges, and
2) They better damn well reject the Project 2025 framework and Trump's promises to weaponize the Justice system.
Every accusation is a confession for the GOP.
@randahl When a US businessman says that falsifying business records is no big deal itβs probably a good idea to look very closely at his own business records.
"Over the past few weeks, Ukraine came to us and asked for the authorization to use weapons that we're providing to defend against this aggression, including against Russian forces that are massing on the Russian side of the border and then attacking into Ukraine," says US Secretary of State Blinken in Prague. "That went right to the president and, as you've heard, he's approved the use of our weapons for that purpose."
I like presidents who aren't felons
President Biden recently gave the commencement address at West Point. His address was streamed and published.
What was not seen was that President Biden after giving his speech and shaking hands with the top 25 graduates on stage went backstage and beyond the reach of cameras, the media and video and greeted and shook hands with every one of the graduating class of West Point.

Nearly all major car companies are sabotaging EV transition, and Japan is worst, study finds
Statistics Denmark recently published a graph which shows, what consumers have felt for a long time: Wages rise, but the real income is falling.
In 2022, consumer prices rose so much, Danes got 5.1 percent poorer, and even though some wholesale prices started to fall in 2023, price hikes still consumed all wage increases in 2023, leading to a real income rise of 0 percent.
I wonder if larger countries are doing better because of stronger retail competition.

I might have to bring my work laptop outside. Unbelievably nice outside.
