@gwensnyder I'm a twitter lurker
I am shy
I held on. I doomscrolled. Kept onto my fave journalists once they talked about doxxing yet ngo and chaya weren't going away
I walked
For some reason I feel safer here
Well see
@ScottSoCal @kskilesstudio Ah yes, thanks for taking the time to engage. I am happily lurking for the moment, trying out federated timelines, hashtags, etc. Had not discovered notifications though, so had missed all the people following me and some replies. That's fixed now :)
Iβve been making festive tree decorations which suit my sense of humour. All thatβs left to add is the ribbon loops for hanging. #crafting #sewing #gingerbread #festive #festivefun
βThis is not just about political disagreements. Weβre talking about violent rhetoric... The lack of basic information literacy β youβre seeing members of Congress treat YouTube videos from foreign countries as if theyβre gospel. All of that is really, really alarmingβ¦ itβs like looking into the mouth of madnessβ¦
Youβre seeing people unspoolβ¦ all in service of this authoritarian goal, which is completely disregarding a democratic election.β

Imagine being invited to a party and it's the coolest party you've ever been to. Doctors, Scientists, Photographers, Journalists, Artists of Every Type, Tech People, Chefs, Bartenders, the list goes on and on, they are all here, they brought their pets, and some really good weed and a bottle of something nice, and everyone is sharing interesting things about themselves and society.
AND Y'ALL, I'VE BEEN ON HERE A MONTH, AND NO ONE HAS SEXUALLY HARASSED ME, NOT EVEN ONCE! No MAGA dude has called me little lady and tried to explain my beliefs to me. If someone thought I was incorrect about something, they just made intelligent points about it and moved on.
Can we keep it this way, pretty pretty please?!
My favorite trick as a lighting designer is to turn on 50,000 watts of stage lights and convince an audience they are looking at a dark room. #Stagecraft
Hello Mastodon! I'm Brian Klaas - an associate professor of global politics at University College London, a contributing writer for The Atlantic, and host/creator of the Power Corrupts podcast. I'm originally from Minnesota.
I'm also writing a newsletter on Substack called "The Garden of Forking Paths."
And yes, that is a lemur on my shoulder...I spend a fair bit of time in Madagascar for research.
A long time ago I visited Auschwitz. The guide was a former inmate who had a number tattooed on his arm. I saw the gas chambers, the ovens, the piles of belongings. Beware when a group or groups are singled out as a βproblemβ. When Texas wants to compile lists of trans people, it rings a terrible historical bell. People say donβt be hysterical. People said that in 1933 too. We should know better. #politics #uspol #uspolitics

#JohnMastodon really isn't getting the level of appreciation that he deserves, if we're all being honest with ourselves.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
